While raising two huskies, I observed that the more time you spend with them with consistent physical activity (walks x2 day minimum), obedience training (intellectual pursuits), playtime (including physical touching, rubbing coats, brushing, etc) they grow up to be very grounded, well-adjusted dogs. Props to Callie's owners - her behavior reflects their relationship of her! She is also older - which makes the Huskies run out of steam quicker... but they will be more tolerant of attention/touching care when raised and grounded with purpose as - you guessed it - WORKING DOGS.
@@Cat-Washing-ton I have a husky cross. I believe he is 75% husky, 25% border collie. He is a nightmare if he missed his run. And I mean run. A walk doesn't cut it. He can run free with no problems. He will run right past squirrels when he is in the running mind zone. His only focus is following me. We can do 10 miles easily with me on my bike averaging maybe 15 mph. After that he is as good as gold. People really do underestimate what a husky needs. Most i see around here are overweight as they are never allowed to run. I would like to go scooter joring with him but I'm not sure he is strong enough. He is very svelte and runs much faster than your average husky.
Growing up we had a husky/malamute cross who would basically get this procedure done with the help of a few dozen Sparrows and Chickadee's. She'd bask in the sun and just let them land on her and rifle out her undercoat to stuff their nests. It was hilarious to watch them all swarm around her in the early summer and fight over who got to hop up onto her and pick out her loose winter fur.
That discoloration actually isn't from cataracts, cataracts are VERY opaque white. A slight discoloration in old age comes from the hardening of the lense - the same thing happens in humans although it isn't visibly apparent in humans (it is why older people need reading glasses). Hardening of the lense is typical aging while cataracts are more of an acute health problem.
Absolutely! Of course she could have been a chill dog anyway we can't be sure, But old age most defiantly slows down dogs like all of us lol.. As age takes it toll your dog is going to get tired more often lose enthusiasm lose pace, Eyesight starts degrading lose hearing etc.. It could be this beaut of a fur baby has reached that stage of life where everything is just chill lol
As a husky owner, this video was so interesting! I thought my husky was a bit stubborn about getting his paws done. I didn’t knew it was a general thing of the breed.
ya, the entire breed don't like their paws touched. Mine, in the 16yrs he was alive, was a massive hassle to clip nails or trim paws. Was a miracle i was able to teach to wear ice boots.
Mine is very good when i brush her and bathe her, she stays still the whole time and doesnt cry. But she gets very stubborn when i have to clip her nails. I have to sit on the floor with her and trap her body with my legs lol
@@skyedots we genuinely can't do my dog's nails at home. He's a little nuerotic and gets anxious very easily, so even just getting the clippers approaching him makes him jump in fear. He's 85 pounds (90 when he decides to actually eat food), so he's too big for us to restrain safely He is a very sweet boy though, we just have to bring him to the groomers or vet to get his nails done
"She isn't your typical husky, she's very well behaved." I have a husky. I can confirm they throw a fit usually about baths, but then love to swim of all things.
I have never understood how a dog that will jump in any water (lakes, river, mud puddles) will freak out when they have to take a bath. You end up basically pleading with them "It's water, you love water, why wont you get in the water?!"
We are so lucky that our groomer actually owns 3 huskies herself. Our husky mix absolutely loves to be groomed, but is a little more wiggly and gives way too many kisses. We are lucky because our groomer is so used to the husky talking at home that she just has a conversation with our dog during grooming. We always leave a massive tip, because we know our dog leaves a massive amount of hair.
She looks so fluffy and gorgeous at the end, you did such an amazing job! You can tell she didn't like her paws getting done that much but she didn't protest and was extremely well behaved for it.
I’ve heard you say in one of your other videos that you were not ‘professionally trained’. I’d like to point out that you seem to care more and do a BETTER JOB than any ‘professionally trained’ groomer I’ve ever been to.
When I think about the many hours of backcombing with a horse comb, and all the flying fluff we lived with, with our two beautiful, wonderful Akitas, who never dropped coat at the same time, these grooming videos and de-shedding tools look amazing! Can't wait to adapt more big pups and try them out! Now if we could only extend their life expectancy it will be perfect!
is it just me or does anyone else LOVE elder dogs more then any other? it’s just they’re lil hairs turn grey and they’re so calm and loving like omg, especially long haired husky’s.
Really beautiful to see the senior dogs getting so much appreciation! 🥰 So sad how they tend to not get adopted from shelters, even though they have so much love still to give 😔 I can understand the difficulty associated with taking on the potential increased vet bills though, not all owners can afford that burden unfortunately?
@@danacaro-herman3530 Yes, can completely understand why people hesitate to open themselves to that loss - particularly if they also have kids they would then have to help deal with it 😔 I really appreciate it when people decide they're going to take on that emotional work, and they definitely seem to get a huge amount of joy out of the experience... I guess, just as with people, we never really know how long any pet will be around? Accidents & sudden illnesses do happen, so if we're honest, any animal adoption truly carries both risk and reward for the humans involved... it's perhaps just more obvious to us when looking at older animals.
my heart melts anytime i see a husky on your channel. They are my favorite breed and want to own one some day. I love all of their quirks along with their beauty
I used to work at a dog and cat boarding and daycare facility that had grooming. I immensely missed seeing the transformations and cute faces of the pups and kitties. 💛 Thanks for your videos!
I love that your bathing unit has a plastic grid floor. A lot of dogs hate bathing because they don’t feel secure as they can’t get traction on the slipper surface of metal, acrylic, or porcelain tubs. Nice extra touch that shows how much you care about your K9 clients.
I started working at a kennel that offers grooming, and these videos have become my new satisfying go to Also helped me not seem like I had zero experience when I started the job haha thanks!
Most husky’s don’t like having their paws touched... a major understatement. It’s not just dislike, it’s a hatred that brings the weirdest Husky shrieks everytime i try
@@judasblewit one of my neighbors called animal control for abuse claims. I was brushing and washing my dog in a tub I set up outside because she had gotten skunked. She was making the average husky howls, whines, grunts, and I would mimic them to comfort/make fun of it and laugh. It sounded funny! And she wasn’t hurting at all! Animal control had to come over, do a wellness check, and find me in the backyard covered in dog hair and soap. 🤦🏽♀️ my neighbor doesn’t like me
Mine prefers to use my hand as a chew toy and run away if I clip her nails........ Or brush her......... Or try to deal with her Grinch feet........ She's my big @$$hole.
@@alyssa_the_noodle5228 I'm waiting for my neighbors to report that I have a dying seal in my yard. I own a hound as well and the noise she makes when I let her out and she spots ANYTHING out of place is akin to a seal being brutally murdered.
She looks awesome at the end, I wish I had that grooming set up at home when I had my cavalier. I like your headgear when blow-drying the dog too, that's a great idea.
@@DuncanWilliamsOFFICIAL Oh lol I didn’t mean anything with politics it was more of an exclamation cuz I usually only see her wearing a mask in her videos
I’ve had quite a few dogs and what a well behaved baby! I learned that with most breeds, when THEYRE young, you should touch their face, ears, paws, and tail. It gets them used to being touched.
She looks just like our old husky. My husband had a male husky with almost identical coloring as this gorgeous girl. I didn't meet my hubby until his husky was about 10 years old. So, he was an older fella. He was a good pupper too.
Oh wow, that nozzle’s amazing. Wish I would’ve known about it when I had my Finnish lapphund senior. He didn’t shed on his own at all during his last two years of life and it was really hard work keeping him comfortable because he hated being brushed (although he enjoyed bath time). He was a rescue, very scared of strangers, so I had to do all the grooming myself.
I so looked forward to the before and after... but I guess it didn't make it into the edit despite the intro 🤣🤣 but she is a very good girl. The best behaved Husky I've ever seen.
My sister has a husky and the start of every summer it’s like a hair bomb exploded there is hair EVERYWHERE it doesn’t matter how much we brush him it feels endless
As a husky/malamute owner, I’m very confused on how she was so good. When we bath my husky he always starts pulling and trying to escape and maybe even a bark (he’s a very very very quiet husky)
What a amazing dog! (And you as the groomer) She is gorgeous and so well behaved. I had a husky/wolf mix and even at 17 (right before he crossed rainbow bridge) calm was not a word ever even considered where he was concerned. This video brought such joy and memories to my heart.
What a good girl. My huskies would not stand for such silliness...and immediately after getting all groomed up and clean, would find a good hole to dig in to get muddied up again. Love your videos!
I love how much care you give your clients. Where are you located? I would totally bring my boys to you if you’re nearby! I didn’t see the info in your About page.
