My dad told me a story of his youth. He was born in 1912 and said he learned this, his first year of school. He taught it to me before I ever went to school and I have never forgotten it. "Animals are our friends! We like them, too! Be good to them, And they'll be good to you!" I'm 67 now and he passed in 1981. Sadly, I never had anyone, to teach dads wisdom to. So, tell your children this. Maybe it might stick to them like it did me. God bless and in all things, be kind. 🤗

Donna Keeley it’s never to late to teach others this with social media and the fact you already have over 40 likes on your comment in a day means that never is not true. Few yrs ago a dog was running around are street I seen it a few times didn’t think anything of it well one day when I returned home two neighbors who walked daily stopped me and said your dog has been out all week better fix your yard better I replied I don’t have a dog it has to be your dog we’ve asked everyone else well she was a run away my girl friend caught her after she tried bitting her but 10 mins later she was asleep we went thur all the steps to find the dogs owners no luck really weren’t looking for a dog so I had found her a home it fail thur last min. By now pepper was her name she seemed to like most well pepper like any young dog wound sniff off once in a while I’d get mad and yell her name but she wouldn’t come one day I even seen her running farther away my girl friend is amazing with animals especially horses she told me if you stay calm and call her name sweetly like you do when she’s not in trouble she won’t get scared and will learn to come when you call her it took me a lot of training but I can honestly say pepper has been a true blessing to my family’s life she now lives with my 93 yr old nana who lives next door to me and has came and gotten me when my nana has fail down more than once. If pepper didn’t come into my life for a reason I don’t know where I would be she has taught me so much and has been a blessing to keep my nana occupied in her older years. I hope you have a wonderful journey telling your story. Cheers

I rode a horse in highland park Los Angeles that responded to audible command: walk, trot, Cantor, and whoa! The horses owner said that she taught the horse like it was one of her students. She taught second grade. It was an Arabian horse that had been horribly abused by a previous owner. She gave me permission to ride this horse but first I had to ask the horse for permission. I cannot remember his name. So, I gave them a little hey and spoke to him kindly and asked permission. I could tell that he gave me it because he put his head in such a way that I knew it was okay. I mounted. It was the most phenomenal ride I have ever ridden..

All horses are super intelligent, some more than others, just like people, but they are all smarter than people give them credit for. My horse was recently inside a barn that was fully engulfed in flames and several of the 39 horses in the barn wouldn't leave. He got them out. Praises were sung about him for about a month, then his heroism was just forgotten because today we have so much information from everywhere from the internet, TV, etc. that people's attentions are short.

@@ZuluLifesaBeech- Very true , I have an older stepbrother that is a sociopath , he knew right from wrong but felt invincible because he was bigger than everyone in our family including my biological dad . He killed our animals , any dog we would get he would kill it right in from of us kids . He could have a dog but nobody else could . He rode our horse to the beach (so calif. back in the 70's ) we were about 15 miles from huntington beach . He did not get her any water and ran her on the sand with chicks riding on the back with him and making her run . She was so dehydrated and exhausted , that she collapsed on the freeway over pass coming home . The police called my dad to come and pick her up and when we got there , the stepbrother had left and told the cops who to call but walk away when they were not watching . We got her in the truck and got her to drink water and saved her , and she got healthy again . Sadly , he took off with her again , and brought her home the next time with a 2" round hole in her chest . . My dad sold her to save her life . He is a fraud artist to this day and somehow walks away free and clear each time he get's caught doing bad stuff . He even hit and ran over a person who allegedly died when he was drunk and they never caught him . I sure hope karma does her job one day . I wrote him off in 1988 and have not spoken to him since .

Horses are amazing animals. They are so sensitive and can pick up on what we are feeling and if our hearts are pure to them. Once they know they can trust you the possibilities are endless. The keys are patience and kindness. You can even ask horses to do things mentally, by telepathy. I am a horse whisperer and my horses love and trust me enough to send me mental pictures of how they are feeling and what they are doing. They do this because they know that I truely love them.

It's not in his biography, which can be purchased at Amazon. You're telling what you heard and not what you know as a fact. Jim Key was a Free man only after the emancipation proclamation. As far as buying the property where he was raised because he grew up there and the previous owner lost all of his money because of the civil war. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1QwqyxiDCjA.html

They're both great, but what I like about this one is the way it clearly demonstrates the intelligence and humour of the horse by telling the story of why and how he spelt fruitless. It reminds me of my DVD on Arkle the greatest steeplechaser of all time. This Irish superstar also had a sense of humour and knew who he was. He had tremendous character and when he was at a fair in Ireland he threw back his head and laughed showing all of his teeth when he saw how many people had turned out just to see him.

Love the Jim Key Story
@larry3034
@larry3034 Год назад
I love the story of Jim Key, Shelbyville, Tennessee is where this all began and ended, Jim and Dr. Key are buried there. I first learned of Jim Key through David Hoffman's video and immediately knew this deserved to be a movie. COVID came along and put it on hold, now I am trying to get moving again. This story is important to the betterment of all animals. Kindness to all God's creatures is paramount in society.

I had the privilege of working with a horse trainer who shared the story of Jim Key with me. This trainer was a master horseman who developed his talent through years of experience. In his spare time, he took to teaching horses tricks. In stages, he could teach a horse to lie down, roll over onto his back and allow the trainer to sit astride on his stomach and hold his front hooves moving them up and down. He knew the "secrete" in the training of Jim Key the horse. Jim Key, the man, taught the horse to recognize that the smallest gesture had a meaning and then to respond to that gesture by falling over, opening the trunk and getting the towel and so forth. The gesture might be scratching his nose, smoothing his hair, touching his ear.......mundane gestures that no one would recognize as a cue except the horse. Now to make this work, the team, the horse and the man, both had to be very exceptional beings. The man had to have the ability to think like a horse and the horse had to be one that was so smart that he was entertained by the exchange of language developed between them. It is very rare to see this connection so when it happens we are held in awe and admiration and we want to believe it. And so we should, but not because it is magic, but because it is a demonstration of the extraordinary cooperation between two species. However, I do not hold so firm to my rational explanation that I can fully deny that there isn't something else going on in the relationship that is beyond our ability to understand. If they make a movie about Jim Key, it will be a gift to the mind and soul of the better half of humanity.

Beautiful story. Thank you for sharing. I have always been a lover of horses but growing up in the city the ordinances prohibited the ownership of horses. As a very young girl I saw my first Doberman pinscher running and I asked the woman what type of dog she owned. The Doberman was so magnificent in it strides that it reminded me of a racehorse. As a young woman it was necessary to purchase a guard dog because I had been burglarized twice. The first thing that came to mind was that beautiful Doberman pincher that I saw when I was a very young girl. Since the mid-1970s I have owned several Dobermans because they reminded me of a racehorse when they run. I read in a Doberman pincher handbook that the Doberman is the only dog that is close to an equine in its magnificent strides. 🥰😇🌟😎

For those that don't know Hambletonian horses were what we call Standardbreds now. Horses typically thought of as harness horses, because of racing. Ms. Rivas's book is very good. Thank you for posting this wonderful story.

If you go i24 to the Shelbyville Exit,go and turn left onto 41. That's Tullahoma hwy. It's in a wide curve on the left a mile or two in. I have not been in a few years but you can see it on a small hill. A big monument. At that time it was well mowed and tended. Easy to spot. I was a nosy so I stopped and walked up. There are several horse graves around Shelbyville another one is Dark Spirit's Rebel. I believe same hwy other side of Shelbyville. If you go to the Wartrace Hotel the grave of Strolling Jim is beyond the barn. I asked and was allowed to go back. I was conned by a mare into hosing her off! It was hot that day. The owner laughed at me hosing her. I told her Navada, could not pass a hose either! He was my mustang

@Charles Darwin David Hoffman covered that in his video. Apparently people from Harvard tested Jim Key independently, because they suspected exactly what you are suggesting. They thought that Jim must be taking cues. But they isolated Jim from his owner, and determined that Jim was actually answering all the questions on his own regarding spelling, math and general knowledge questions that were asked of him. The story is surprising, I'll grant you, but Jim might be for hippology, an anomaly, like Sir Isaac Newton was, compared to mere mortals.

@Charles Darwin Perhaps you are not on the same "wavelength"... You could tune into all the radio stations in the world, but if the one you are looking for isn't on your frequency, you won't find it... I'm sorry but you missed it... I am 70 years opld and worked with many kinds of animals, domestic and wild... and I have some stories I could tell... but it doesn't matter if you believe it or not... What IS... IS

@Charles Darwin Clever Hans was in the United States. Yes this is another example of the Clever Hans effect. Alex the African Grey Parrot is also not communicating like humans. Read up on the criticism of the claiims.

@@macplumber They didn't "isolate" him from the horse. They put him in the back of the room. She is lying or exaggerating when she claims that "they sent him away". That never happened, he was only put in the "back of the room." Clever Hans had not yet been exposed so they didn't know the extent of the cues. Dr. Key could still see the horse and the horse could still see Dr. Key. Dr. Key made a very good living off of this horse with the the help of a former Barnum promoter. Hmmm I wonder.
