In the basement of the Märklineum museum, which opened in summer 2021, there is a 100 square meter H0 scale model train layout. It takes you through several eras of railway history and is rounded off by a realistic day-night projection on a screen. Every 15 minutes from sunrise (from 0:30) to sunset (from 6:36) and also with special features such as a thunderstorm (from 4:45).
They run diesel and electric locomotives, steam locomotives, and also modern ICE trains.
The exhibition (not shared in this video) shows products from the entire company history on several floors.
There is also a large Märklin store. Access to this shop is free of charge.
The newspaper ‘Stuttgarter Zeitung’ recently named the museum, along with the Mercedes Benz and Porsche Museums, one of the top 10 factory locations in the Stuttgart area.
Märklin’s headquarters is in Göppingen.
Model railways are captivating more and more people. For example, the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg is regularly voted the most popular tourist attraction in Germany.
On September 13th and 14th, 2024, @maerklin will open its doors again for an open day. The Märklineum can be visited at a reduced admission fee on these days. In addition, an insight into the entire production process is provided.
