This song is about his struggles with drugs, and having been in jail. The woman embodies the "drug", and at the end you can see that she burns, signifying his sobriety, moving on from, and growing out of his past. He's paid his dues, and this reimagined version of the original song highlights the lyrics and the depth so beautifully. I cried. The teen in me was bawling.
Need to check out the upbeat original version. This is dedicated to his fans that have stuck with him. That's where the chick came in. She is Easter egg in video from older album cover
You need to do the Trilogy: Losing My Mind, Losing My Life, and then Drugs. This band is insane! They seamlessly cross at least four genres, every single song.
Interpret it how you will and whatever way means the most to you... But this song is about his struggle with drugs. The "love" aspect is a euphemism for drugs. The whole song is about dealing with his demons and completely losing himself to drugs. His inability to accept help from anyone because nothing they do is working. He talks about getting lost in the feeling of being miserable due to his addiction... in a way that feels almost like a high. It really almost killed him. Honestly... until he came out with this version, I never understood what the original meant. I never thought to break down the lyrics because I was just an angsty teen. But this.... when this came out.. it brought me to tears because I struggled through the same thing in my young adult life.
^THIS Also, I'm sorry to hear you struggled with the same. Hope you're doing well now. He's story and stories like them inspire me so much to push through when life gets really fucking hard.
The explanation at 8:00 was so damn good!! And btw this song was accually a reimagined of their older song The Drug In Me Is You, please go check it out! 👍
You guys were on the right path, the lyrics and the flow of the song mimic the rising climax of recognizing an abusive relationship/addiction then the returning calm of going back into it again until the final explosion of raw emotion
FROM escape the fate (dying is your latest fashion album ) to FALLING IN REVERSE i really really love ronie radke 👏☺️ all of his rap songs are awesome too.
The girl is just an analogy for his actual drug addiction. Her burning at the end symbolizes him being clean now, he got past the drug and got her out of his life. React to the original "The Drug in me is you", also the trilogy of "Losing my Mind" > "Losing my Life" > "Drugs" is really good.
I don't get the whole "radio metal" thing though, if any band or song is good enough and popular enough it might make the radio. If it was a good song before it hit the radio how would it become bad afterward? It just means the artist is getting the popularity they deserve. I wish Falling in Reverse would just play on every radio station on repeat.
Guys he wrote this song in prison along with others so you figure it out.and the first one Ronnie had no voice control at the time thats why his voice sounds like it did.i applaud him for this its freaking great
My bf told me he heard popular monster on the radio and I was like, nah, you must be thinking of a different song... he insisted so I went to that radio's playlist and sure as shit it's on there. I have yet to hear it on the radio (Im in the car less), but I was a mixture of happy and stunned. I didn't think a song like that would make it to radio and I am so happy it has.
The drug of being addicted to a person is often the worst. He is trying to consume a toxic relationship. When Ronnie talks about drugs it is not always literal. Great reaction Guy's!
Trilogy insinuates 3 parts to the story, he’s going beyond that! It is no longer a “trilogy”. FIR previous albums talk about his past and troubled life, but his newest single releases are a statement, he’s going deeper into his pains. His daughter Willow shown in a few videos represent the one thing saving him and bringing him back to reality. Each song has a deeper meaning and also for shadows the next song. By bring back his song “the drug in me is you/reimagined” it’s almost like he’s say, “look! You didn’t hear me the first time! I’ve been here the whole time trying to tell you!” “Let me slow it down for you, now listen!” Losing my mind Losing my life Drugs Popular monster The drug in me is you/ reimagined Popular monster was filmed in the same court room as the original the drug in me is you.
I believe he's referencing himself.. Kind of looking in the Mirror and telling himself that all the things he internally deals with is killing him but he needs it to survive... A true Paradox of the Human condition.... Great Reaction Y'all!!! 😎👍
This song was originally, I believe about his drug addiction, but I got it differently. To me it was about a woman he's in love with, but is destroying his life. "I felt the darkness as it tried to pull me down, the kind of dark that haunts a 100 year old house. I wrestled with my thoughts and shook the hand of doubt...." is him feeling her ruining his relationships and his mental health, and then coming to terms with it and then "...feet dont fail me now", aka, he realizes that hes got to end it. The chorus is his conversation with her. Like "I love you, and I'm crazy for you, but I cant be with you". Then build of the choruses is him having this conversation multiple times. The first: kinda shy and regretful that hes doing it, the second: sincere and sad, apologetic and trying to still be cool about it, then the third: broken and begging that erupts into anger. Maybe it was just me, but I've been in a relationship like that where you're still in love and she keeps drawing you back in and you have to cut it off even though you still have feelings. Then you finally just explode in anger because you know that you cant move on if you keep doing it.
5:10, that's brilliant, so True! Because The original song is actually heavier so that might be The exact thing he did, damn The guy with hair is smart AF, he gets s arter for every vid i watch
Found out about falling in reverse awhile ago listening to "punk goes pop" they did gangsta's paradise. This song is pretty good, they are total underrated.
Fun fact RR writes all the music and lyrics and teaches the band the music they play and tour with him. Not to take away from the musicians but he is a genius.
Omgg, this song just brings me back to high school... BUT I listened to the original version, never heard him sing it this way.. it sounds nice, but I prefer the original.
ronnie did say that Queen is one of those bands that influenced him. check out behind the scenes of this video, he sang a Queen song. fun fact, his girlfriend is a wwe wrestler named Paige
This song is not part of the trilogy you mentioned :) (that would be Losing My Mind - Losing My Life - Drugs) This is a new version of their old song "The Drug in Me is You" that he made to celebrate the single reaching gold status or something I think. Regarding the meaning: Jojo \m/ explaines it perfectly!
Definitely listen to the original so you can compare, it's totally different!! (Whether you to react to it or not) The girl in this video is from their first album cover and the end is supposed to symbolize moving on.
it's kinda like falling crazy in love with someone who doesn't even care about you and being into a lot of pain and misery just to get over with it and move on.
He's talking to himself , I think it's about depression. You look at yourself the mistakes you've made all the times you fucked up , so you start questioning why you are even here . The girl is probably one of the things he lost through his stuff ups in life . Just my thoughts on it .
New sub btw 😁 This song doesnt have anything to do with the song "Drugs". It actually a recreated (reimagined) version of a song on their debut album "The Drug In Me Is You" which is like meta punk rock. Love this version. It's more of an emo vibe.
Ronnie posted this was tribute to his fans. His fans have become his drugs where as in the original version ronnie was actually on drugs and was having a troubled life. Look up original version. "The drug in me is you"
Y’all are so fun. I learned of this group from your popular monster reaction. I’m obsessed now. They’re so good. Have you heard any I Prevail or have any interest in reacting to their stuff?
I see it as the way I feel about the song. Confused and high with all the mistakes that I have made in my life how should I interpret them? I watch this video and the burning of the trees and the girl of his old album I relate to it as burning my past and I think that’s what it was meant to be.
took a few songs but Ronnie has claimed another victim lol ive watched so many reactions and they all have eventually the same face of damn it now i need more haha
3:40 - Holy fuck man! That small bit really does sound like part of *Bohemian Rhapsody!* Nice catch brah!! Not a bad thing though, Ronnie is a legend.....not a plagiarist!
Louisiana has some of the worst rock radio stations...every time we get a good one it last maybe 2 year the most then either goes classic rock or pop that's why I got XM Radio but they play the same shit all the time I just keep it for Jason Ellis , Eddie Trunk , VOLUME music talk and the comedy channels ... And I LOVE THIS SONG...I listen to it at least 10 times a day
@@EZisme71 I always thought that 97.9 WCPR wasn't too bad. I think they're out of Mississippi though... Not sure if you'd be able to dial them in just from anywhere else in LA though. But, I used to stream that channel a lot and it wasn't too bad.
The person he is talking about is his drug. And hes high on there love but it's also a drug hes talking about so it's not good. It's a beautiful analogy
Rap suggestion most of their songs are pretty short so maybe react to 2 in 1 vid i like all their songs equally so just choose ones you think might sound interesting $uicideBoy$
Ronnie said in an interview that "The drug in me is you" is referring to his reflection in the mirror. that he or his past self has been his own poison.
