IMO it's your business how you edit the images. It's subjective. There is no right or wrong. Unless some folks want to criticise from behind the cowardly shield of their keyboard. Lovely, well-edited images!!!

The usual conditions, John, we are getting more than our fair share of rain so far this year. the Monochrome shots worked very well but I also like the more muted colours of the grasses on the far bank. I love Glen Orchy, allways come back throught the Glen on the way back from Glencoe and Rannoch.

Thanks Douglas! Yeh i love Glen Orchy too. Wasnt supposed to be there on this day, was heading closer to Loch Awe but the conditions weren't right for what i had in mind so Glen Orchy was the fall back on this occassion. There have been quite a few changes in the glen since i was last here just a couple of years ago

Another wonderful video! Watching the gradual progression from damp to drenched and how you still kept smiling was almost (only almost!) as notable as seeing you frame the shots. I really appreciate how you tell us what you are trying to accomplish with each photo. Thanks, too, for the explanation on your editing. I’m not sure what the critics were on about, but then, I’m just an amateur. I really like what you do. That’s why I follow your channel. Thank you.

Great stuff John as always and liked the B/W shots. Thanks for all your talk-through of the shots and your editing process. Even if you did HDR - so what!

Thanks Colin! I think it was the idea that HDR was in some way a bad thing that annoyed me most!

Oh dear. 'over processing' comments?! See, there's a backyard keyboard smasher who has nothing better to do other than critisize someone else, because they consider their ideas better than anyone elses. Have they got their own chanel talking about their processes? Did you ask them for their opinion? If not, ignore them. There is no right or wrong here, let alone specific under or over processing critique required. This is an art, created by someone they happen to be watching. At no point are you asking people for creative critism on this chanel, this is about your journey, and what you are getting out of it. The saddest thing I think it shows, is that they dont understand the true value of your photography. Going out, having the experience, coming home to edit a photo to then enjoy that experience all over again is where the true magic lays. You have every right to edit your image any way that you want, any way that you, the creative, feels happy with and you the artist taking the image, gets a satisfaction from . It's no one elses right to to winge about what you finish with. If they dont like it, they should just move on and watch another chanel, or go out and make their own videos explaining how THEY like their images to look at the finish. You are someone who fully embraces the whole spectrum of this art and I think that is what a vlogging chanel should be about, unless its a specific teaching chanel, and even then, its one voice offering one opinion and option. Carry on producing what you do, and should you ever want to try HDR, then go ahead and embrace it without worrying about what others think. Sorry, but I always feel sad and angry when a creative feels they need to explain or prove themselves like this on their videos....

Thanks Sandy! I totally agree. I did make a point of checking out the channels of both of the most recent "experts" just in case they were amazing photographers and I could learn something from them. Both describe themselves as "photographers" on their channels but neither have posted any images on RU-vid, or any of their associated social media links... speaks volumes!

Great images again John & I have always liked the style of your editing. I used to be well into HDR (Photomatix) many many years ago & I wouldn't class your editing as so but we all do things differently ......

Thanks Graham! I do like the HDR effect when it's used well, but, I don't think I would know where to start in producing an HDR image as it's something I don't shoot. My main concern was the fact "HDR" was being used in a derogatory way. You wouldn't say "that image is too well composed" or "that photo is too perfectly exposed" - it just seemed a bit insulting to anyone who does shoot HDR...

Nice video in trying conditions John. I thought all the images were good and as always you explain your thought process really well. I particularly like the vertical image at around the 2:20 mark, it looks almost like half black and white and half colour. Cheers from down under. Merv

Yeap, sitting with a cup of tea and a couple of slices of toast on Sunday morning enjoying you getting wet. Nice shots though. Like a lot of Scottish waterfalls that one is about having to get 'creative' with the composition. Those falls were a big part of my childhood (nope, I didn't grow up there), my father commissioned a large oil painting of them which sat on the wall of our living room since before I can remember. I've also got a story of stupidity where I polluted the river, intentionally, on just such a day as that; which I won't share on a public platform; mainly because it makes me look like a total eejit .... not one of my finest days !

Sounds like an interesting story. If i had to guess i'd say either fuel or sewage?? If its any consolation i'd say the volume of water going over the falls is so huge that you could drop a barrel of plutonium in there and it would be undetectable by the other end of the glen! (Not suggesting anyone tries that!)

Take the mean things that people say with a grain of salt. It’s easy for some people to be armchair critics behind the safety of their screens. As far as I am concerned, your images, your business. I think your images looked great!! Thanks for sharing!!

As you say -- have to careful as the rocks can be slippy and lots of groves to fall into at best -- worst could end up i the river. As for people going on about your editing --- its fine yor editing, and if you like the end results, thats all that matters.

I almost did on a previous visit which is why I was more than a little wary on this return trip!
