Normally you can´t win with only two knights but this position is an exception? How do white win this?
This puzzle was composed by Samuel Loyd in 1858.

Well done. I'm patiently waiting for the puzzle where you sacrifice your King and then get the mate in 2 moves.

The sheer joy of sacrificing a pesky knight and mating one’s opponent at the same time.

When losing, king should strive to stay out of the corners. I think this only works because the king is in the corner and the pawn moves over to the last column with the forced capture. But it does show that if you end up with just 2 knights, you really want to have your opponent have at least one piece, taking that last piece means a draw.

Damn! I actually saw this line of play and got it right! One of the few times that I’ve seen the ending to your puzzles.

I've been on a losing streak recently so thank you for a puzzle I could solve. I knew keeping the king in the corner was important and I knew I needed a pawn on h file to block the king in.

The idea was easy but I missed Kf2 move, I tried to place the knight there😢.

And if you put Knights like this Nf4 and Nh5, now puzzle is mate in seven.

I saw the solution in 2 seconds. Not in 3 seconds, or 4. Only in 2. I knew the mate of one knight already for long time and tried often to make a study with this nice position.

By the way, this puzzle would turn into a mate in five, if the Nf1 were set to e4: 1. Nh3 gxh3 - 2. Kf2 Kh2 - 3. Nd2 Kh1 - 4. Nf1 h2 - 5. Ng3#.

And if Nf1 put Nh5 now is mate in 7

What about Kf2 forcing the pawn to move and then Ng3 Mate in 2
@tykemorris
@tykemorris 13 дней назад
That isn't checkmate. You would capture the pawn but black would go to Kh2, not a checkmate. Now what? Your move, so moving your f4 knight lets the king escape and moving your g3 knight just traps the king on h1 and h2. If you use your free knight stop black from going to one of those two squares it is a stalemate.
