A Beautiful zippered pocket is not only nice to look at, but it also makes the pocket very strong. See how to make these pockets, perfect for the "Ruler Wrap Organizer" www.byannie.co... Zippers here www.byannie.co... amzn.to/2Cu0CrA
Very nice big bag for sowing rulers and other things. It looks so neat and stable. Very good idea. As always you come up with great stuff to make...🌹❤️🌹❤️
I love how you used the binding to make a very stylish, neat edge. I hadn’t thought to put it on both sides of the zip - great idea! Thank you Laura, I will keep this in mind for the next time I make a pocket.
3:41 After quilting your big piece, before you cut to size.... It's much easier to "edge stitch" then cut to size. This way you are sure to catch both fabrics in the stitching and since you are cutting after stitching, you decide exactly how close to the edge you want the stitching and not have to worry about the pressure foot slipping off the edge of the fabric.... like what happens to me... no matter how careful I am, that needle always seems to jump off the edge... by sewing before cutting, there's no edge to fall off. 💜🌞🌵
Great video with good details. I have made a few of Annie’s bags from her patterns and love her soft and stable. Would love to see your finished ruler wrap bag! Thanks!
Laura: I am thinking another option for securing the fabric edges to the foam core would be to use an overlock or serger. Do you think the extra thread or two (depending on if one uses a 3-thread or 4-thread stitch) would add too much bulk or be too wide for this application? Thank you.
you can, but be sure that the seams will be covered and the extra thread would be fine:) test it first and you can always make the binding a bit bigger
I love watching your videos! However, I need something for beginner sewing for dummies. Can you recommend something extremely simple that I can work my way up to what you're doing? You went so fast I would swear my head spun around a few times! I would really really love it if you would consider a series for teaching people from the very basics who don't know a thing. Yes? Thank you so much.
Fellow RU-vidr here:. What would you like to make? Search on RU-vid for that item and there are lots of vids that cut and sew every step with you. Laura's followers love that she packs so much into a couple minutes. You'll be keeping up in no time! Have a great time learning to sew!!!
Pea Jay : I was going to point you to Laura's sewing series for beginners as well. She starts with THE VERY BASICS ... I think you will enjoy it. First learn about the machine, how it works and maintenance instructions. Then baby steps to build your skills and confidence, once class at a time. I think she presents only one class per month in this series. In between times you can play around with her suggestions or others that catch your attention. Welcome to the world of sewing!
There are two videos on the By Annie YT that shows much more of how this works and looks. Its worth watching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8nCQqaLYGO8.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NHRrdw3Ysqs.html. Example, there are two sizes and she talks about customizing the pocket sizes. They have 14 colors of mesh too!
