An extremely beautiful place. Somebody said 500 steps, but I think it is really about 365 - something like that according to some literature. Regardless, going down is daunting, but going back up, when it was extremely hot with super high humidity was a chore. Not for the weak of heart. In any case, it was worth it for me anyway. Just take some breaks on the way back up. ;-)
All in all, well worth the time and expense, which was very little - pay to ride up the hill to get to the entrance area - I also paid a kid to act as our little tour guide at the place - Great little helper. I tossed him 200 pesos when we were done, much more than I am sure he would have expected. ;-)
There is some small fee to go down to the falls. There is also some souvenir shops and even people sitting around at tables selling produce. ;-) The Philippines is a quite fascinating place and Tinago Falls is one of the more beautiful tourist destinations. Long ago, it was much more commercialized than now - you can see the remnants of a resort from many years ago - empty buildings or some demolished buildings. There is no hotel or resort there now.
If you are anywhere near Iligan City (even if you are way up in Cagayan de Oro), take the time to go visit these falls and bring cameras. ;-)
