The fact that they reversed it. Is really amazing that it really do work both ways. They worked together and got along and made a great community for the store. This movie is everything!
Though Chanelle is not too nice throughout most of the movie, and even here what she says "No white girl ain't messing up my money" somehow always rings in my mind. She is not open here towards Lynn, but somehow I still like her attitude.
She's kinda of being Switzerland: she's not actively letting Lynn's presence make her decide she can't work with her, but she's not necessarily embracing her. But by the end, they do have Lynn's back which is progress. Besides, do they really think a girl born and raised in Georgia has never worked with black women? Did they really think Gina would hire someone who can't work with their expected clientele? Of course not. They're just being intolerant.
Here's the thing apparently it's okay for African Americans to discriminate caucasians nobody cares but when it the other way around all hell break loose its like they can say bad stuff to ome person but when the person does it all hell breaks loose. It sucks but happens,
She should have brought that photo album she was showing Gina in the beginning, I bet it would have shut their asses up really fast those pictures were beautiful
Katie Roush Omg I was just thinking that but I’m not sure she expected this to happen so she was kinda unprepared for them to act towards her like that
@@XSPXtremesimmerproductions Yes! Me too! I was thinking that Lynn is so sweet natured and trusting that she has naivety in her character. So, she likely didn’t think that her being white would have people question her ability to do hair like that. She probably thought that if Gina is down with her skills, everyone else would trust the decision of the shop owner.
@@littlefurballs Yep Portia and Mercedes were threatened by her. They left the shop and I kinda wanted to see their hairstyles because the way they was acting they better have been good. Lynn has been an inspiration to me I want to be able to do White hair, Black hair, Asian hair, Korean hair, Indian hair, etc. That’s why I’m working on my hair portfolio so I can get a scholarship to go to a cosmetology school
Smh, what's sad is black movies/ppl ALWAYS include nonblack ppl in our space, while simetaneoulsy making black ppl look bad, even in the comments ppl are calling the black girls all types of names because "discriminated" against the white girl....I'm so over this narrative in the black community, and in black movies/tv shows etc. I don't see any other races on televison, movies, etc that include black ppl, the way black ppl include everyone else, while stepping on other black ppl.
Lynne really is the class act of these heifers she just proves herself by just being a good stylist & seldom gives into the workplace drama with her skin color!
Mike mendoza Because Black people are oppressed in this country since we got here. What white person was oppressed in America? I'll wait... It's not the same and it will never be the same.
And also in the next cut version they were racist against the indian dude calling them baba ghanoush and its not even a indian recipe. Learn about other cultures.
"No white girl's gonna mess up me and my money" ME: um. . . What you MEAN to say is 'I'M not gonna mess MYSELF up and my money because I don't wanna WORK with a white girl' because all Lynn did was come in the shop.
This movie is so good because people sometimes forget that racism can go both ways and what I love about this movie is that the characters come together and really just ignore any discrimination and racism.
@@user-gd8ph2zu9lI wrote this like 3 yrs ago and I literally don’t even remember much about this scene but I can definitely tell you that generalising and stereotyping is a part of racism. The girls in the clip reject bc of her skin colour and reject her due to the stereotype that she can’t be a hairstylist.
The sad thing is, there are actual people out there who go through this. Im black & i dont care at all if she worked there. It doesn't matter which race, which gender you are etc. the only thing that matters is what u bring to the table..
Can you say reverse racism? Judging someone before they even know her 🤦🏾♀️ but I love how Queen latifahs character defends Alicia silverstone because their friends ❤️
Oh stop it with that 'black people have no power' bullshit. We absolutely can be racist. If I manage a store and I treat whites or Mexicans or Asians like shit because I hate them, that's racist. Otherwise, then no whites have ever been racist, because the majority of white people haven't had the direct power that the few whites in America have actually had. The difference is, we don't have the ability to EXERCISE our racism as frequently as whites. If you have hate in your heart, it exists whether or not you actually express it. Racism is the same way. Marinate on that.
Andela Andela no Its not. I call racism black men being lynched and black people being oppressed. We can talk shit about white people all day but its nit going to oppress yall financially or in america
Damn, people really miss the point of this scene. I don't agree with them girls leaving, but I get it. These type of black hair salons had to be created because realistically other hair salons would specifically only cater to caucasian/asian hair. A lot of non-black hairdressers would be open about their discriminatory hiring processes too, that they'd never hire a black person etc. (This is still the case today in a lot of countries.) Even today when people do hairdressing courses they're not trained in how to cut black people hair. They use WOOL as a replacement!
I don’t even think because she’s white. I think its because she’s blonde. I am pretty sure if she’s a brunette with a “cooler” vibe the other girls would have treated her better. Because somehow Blondes looks whiter than brunettes to some people.
I know it’s a comedy and everything, but I’d like to see how funny people would find it if it was a salon full of white girls belittling the black stylist.
Shakeel Mirza It's not meant to be funny. It's meant to show how discrimatory the other girls were being towards her because of her skin color. Stop trying to find a problem where there isn't one. No one is laughing at this scene, your the only one who viewed it "comedic". The reaction would mostly be the same. It's not right to refuse to work with someone because of their race. That's the message of this scene.
I've worked with people like the 2 girls, they're the worst. Gina is lucky they left, it would've been a different movie and drama city in there. Trash always tries to stink up everything sis, you just gotta remember to throw it out 💅🏼🍵
even though its a movie, If those girls needed references to for another job at a salon or another job, Gina would not give them a good reference because they quit over someone being white. I can understand that they didn't like the changes of the interior of the shop but they quit over a girl being white but didn't give her chance to see that she was good with hair-styling. I think the lesson here is, you gotta give people a chance before you judge them on their appearance.
People are really misunderstanding this scene. The way they're acting towards her isn't being applauded. The funny part about it is they're being ridiculous. And stop saying if it were reversed it would be chaos. Duh but that's not even the point and irrelevant to a scene that's making fun of this scenario.
