I had the joy and privilege to see the first sightings of this year's kits at the weekend. They spend the first weeks of their life in the lodge before venturing out. This is probably the first time out. One is slightly more adventurous and can swim a bit.
Some of this footage is just before dawn, so I was struggling with light.
The mother is shown with one of them out of the water, a bit of suckling and grooming going on. Both parents are seen with it too, the mother was trying to get it to go to bed and end up grabbing it in the mouth and taking it in.
I've got reams of footage to go through including some thermal with the 2 kits, mother and last year's kits showing an interest. To follow.
Beavers are very family orientated.
