Beaver Pond And Abandoned Board Walk, Bridges In A Sanctuary

When I say animals were kept here, they were injured and could not be released. This place had a school field trip program and the areas with numbers they would take notes and look for creatures. I was wrong, those buildings on the map are not gone, it's a house now. My perception was off so those were not the ones that burned (new sign) I know someone in the area will correct me on that #Laughing #Brook #Wildlife #Sanctuary #Abandoned #Trails #Beaver #Pond

OMG!! when you were talking about the fire happening and the place having animals, I just knew you were talking about Laughing Brook. Just about every year when I was in Elementary School in West Springfield we would take school field trips there. I was always the highlight of our school year. Seeing the signs at the end brought back so many memories. And I remember that craved bunny post. Thank you for doing this.

Having lived in Michigan, California and Texas, I had the great pleasure visiting many nature trails, camp sites and state parks as a scout and later with family. I remember many of these places were built by the old Works Progress Administration (WPA) as jobs infrastructure programs. Many sites are still around like Mt. Rushmore, Hoover Dam and many state parks. Tens of millions got jobs building parks, road, schools and hospitals. It would be great to bring back ''Laughing Brook'' and quit abandoning these beautiful sanctuaries. Thank you Post10

I used to do the exact same thing you do....Only back then I didn't have a super 8 camera. Film was expensive and it would have cost a fortune to film it all. Thank goodness everything is digital now and you can film everything for a fraction of the cost. I wish I could still do this but being handicapped I can't any more so Post 10 thank you for helping me relive my past. You da man!

That’s what those people do. Take over or buy tracks of land, in some cases, that was well cared for property and just let nature take it back. Green Acres did just that in nj. Beautiful maintained property and natural spring fed only lake privately owned . We knew the owners. As a child growing up I had the joy of paddling all over the lake in those paddle boats. Today the acres of moved lakeside property is now over grown. They opened that lake up to the public for fishing..they came with their gas boats, fished it out plus did damage, gas oil on the lake...did damage..THEN, THEY STOPPED IT..it is sad to see what has happened to the property in the name of a wild life sanctuary. They also bought up farmers fields, which were in front of my parents home, all over grown with trails mowed through them for hiking around the White lake property..Also a swamp on the property the leads to the lake, also spring fed.

This wouldnt take alot to restore as a community spot because the groundwork (landscaping) is still mostly alright. Just gota clear some vegetation etc. Some consideration for things like the landslip etc where the main trail might need to be given a new course but its still kinda ok. Im not saying itd be easy but relative to an undeveloped area, a bit easier.
