Well you have to understand what he knew he was up against. He new the spiritual battles he was going against. He knew that he was battling principalities in high places!. The house of Saul was demonic. He fought on a greater understanding, and allot of people don't understand thus. He new more than the ancients and God told about him himself Jesus, and about things that were to come. He was not only fighting politics and flesh but principalities and kingdoms of the earth. He new it militarily. He new how spiritual and the art of war more so than anyone. But he walked with God! I believe he was not just praying to byestanderds but those who used deep divination against him, sought his life conglomeratly. To also much is given much is required, so he had a lot of gleaning, and cleaning and reshaping to do more so than other vessels, so he was constantly under demonic attack for he was a type of Messiah for Israel. Not spiritually but for God and to rally the building off the temple, to build a tabernacle and have it function at its fullest. Good graced him with a house of cedars, meaning his vessel. So when he cryd out he was hurt, but also remember shimmie or the one that kicked up dust and through rocks at him cursing him, his response was not the same and at the threat of death he stayed his friend from killing him. When you walk with God deeply your see things more so how they are, and contently interacting with darkness has a toll...
