Sometimes issues and events emerge that are unforeseen that you would never have thought to discuss initially, like you can discuss politics early on in a general sense but not think to talk about police brutality of black people. Also discussing these things early on aren’t a definite that you compatible or not like it’s all theory, you can only see what a person is about when your living life together.

And there's alot of pro lifers who volunteer for those organizations. What service feeds hungry kids and who was against it? Kids adjust. My father was a Democrat and my Maternial grandmother who lived with us was Republican. This was back in the 1950s. Grandma would say "No one took charity when that nice Mr Hoover was President.". My father would say "No one had any money to give in charity when Hoover was President". Today I get news from all sides. I follow MSNBC, Fox, the BBC, Politico etc to get all points of view. Dad and Grandma taught me to do that without really knowing that was happening.

However, after George Floyd, when the whole country was talking about these issues, he continued to be ignorant- because of his pride, laziness, or inability to understand what people were talking about (which are human conditions that can people can grow from- they don’t permanently condemn anyone to anything, but they’re not good). Clearly she was ignorant, too, but then she noticed people’s pain and did her research, and adjusted her viewpoint accordingly. Why do people think of each other as “good people” and “bad people” who can’t grow and change? We need to use more precise adjectives than “bad,” so we can identify what the problems are. I’m not about cancel culture, I’m about accountability and growth culture. And if you’re feeling defensive because you think someone is calling you a bad person, or because you think someone is calling someone that you agree with a bad person, I would urge you to ask why that’s happening. Sometimes people like to condemn other people in order to feel superior, but other times, they may be pointing out a problem that you’re not seeing. And that’s ok, as long as you don’t just deny there’s problem and instead investigate the issue.

@@AmaraEmme I’m actually black. A black man at that! From what I remember, he posted a “back the blue” or “blue lives matter” flag. At the time, it wasn’t smart because it seemed as if he was deviating from the conversation on police brutality. That being said, it does make him a bad person. There is also a reason why he thinks the way he does about police so we should hear him about as well. I don’t like people disguising canceling people as “accountability.” None of us should be the ones calling the shots. Last time I checked, we all are imperfect.

What if you realized you were dating someone who lacks respect for other lives and turns a blind eye to the suffering of others? People have different levels of tolerance for other views, but I would never want to create a family with someone who is willfully ignorant to the suffering of others, and who is too defensive and prideful to admit that mistake.
