-interviewer* "do you feel any pressure?" -beck* "from you?" -interviewer* "ok that's very funny" -beck* "you're not listening to me, it's the same with everyone" Dam beck is so down to earth.
the thing i love most about beck is that he's always managed to be ahead of the times. and he pretty much still is to this day. that takes a heck of a lot of skill, especially with music, and especially considering that his music career has gone for as long as it has. he really is terrific.
I always watch the video Lost cause, that is an amazing video, Beck always gives us something different every time, he is truly amazing. Top soul, calming voice chilled 👍✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨💖💖💖
loll he seems like a cool guy. I'd like to meet Beck. One of the better creative musicians (artists) today. And what I like about him is that he's in the perfect popularity bracket. Not TOO popular, but popular enough.
I loved Modern Guilt. I had the misfortune of not growing up with Beck (He was around, but I ignored him.) so I can't nostalginze about buying Odelay with my birthday money. That might've effected on why I liked Modern Guilt, but many songs are some of his best from that record. It's dark, original, and exciting. I realize it's not for everyone, but I loved every note of Modern Guilt.
alexmax2467 I was in LA for pre Mellow Gold Beck and it's been a thrill hearing his music evolve.. Now matter what album/era it's Beck. Modern Guilt rules BTW..!! 👑
Mutations is just a great album through and through. I'm a real live-performance-oriented guy, so when Beck chooses to go that way, it always turns out brilliant. If you guys haven't checked out his Velvet Underground covers, you should. They're interesting.
His paternal grandfather was a protestant minister, his grandmother was jewish and he was raised in both faiths. His mother artist(Bebbe Hansen)was the youngest Warhol superstar and his grandfather was one of the founders of the Fluxus art movement, and wrote the first publication on performance art, working with legendary avant-garde sound conceptualist John Cage, and Warhol among others. His birthmom became involved in Scientology when she joined their highly acclaimed drug rehab program narcanon.
His mother was an multi-disciplinary artist, in her first all girl band at 14 with The Whippets(it's on YT)and many others, she was also a visual and performance artist, she's on vids here with other former Warhol superstars in panel discussions. His father is a musician and composer. It's no wonder he is the multi-coneptualist of the century, he comes from a pretty impressive, creative and eclectic family pedigree, and you can clearly see what a genuinely clever and warm person he is.
T Productions you feel the exact way I do about Beck. I don't care if he is into Scientology, its all about his music and never before have I respected an artist so much for his sheer diversity and talent. I would love to meet him one day.
Behind that sweet akward chill quirky demeanour lies the mind of diabolical creative genius; you just don't find many truly interesting and honest people with such a deep love for music in these times of embarassing media whores and pretentious ego-driven jackasses.....Beck is truly a class act in a league all his own.
I forgot to mention for those that arent't familiar, the Fluxus artists were somewhat like Neo Dadaists, very multi-conceptualist.His grandfather later had an art school in Europe and Beck would often travel between the U.S. and Europe to stay with him.
I really love that album. Sure, it's a lot more electronic than the others, but it does have moments very much like the older part. Volcano, I think, is a lot like Blackhole. Anyways, that's just my opinion.
@LIFEONPLANETBECK The best one that I prefer is O2, call me insane. Best Beck album is Sea Change, followed by Odelay, followed by Mutations, Midnight Vultures, The Information, Modern Guilt. IMHO
please let me know if you know what kind of protestant faith was beck paternal grandfather was it baptist or methodist or congregational or pentacostal please reply fascinated by le beck
Evidently you didn't even comprehend the statement ApogyX, I didn't think moronic idiots would be interested in Beck, but then his genius would remain incredibly enticing to anyone who listens to music period
The kidnapping part is a bit exagerrated! She was also a midwife and actually delivered Beck's wife at her birth, and she was in that all-girl band the Whippets with Jack Kerouac's daughter
i'm not a supporter of Scientology, but its not a religion. there's no deity. its a sort of 'code of conduct'. beck WAS born into it,& dabbled as a kid from what i've read. but he was also born into Judaism(on Bibi's side, i think)& dabbled with that too. but yeah, he's fully signed up to C.O.D now, thanks to his new wife. her parents are in the upper eschelons. its a shame that someone so creative seems to feel it's necessary to adhere to someone elses rules. i miss the old beck.
scientology effects the lyrics lost cause devils haircut are great songs equip .org and hank hanegraafff and jesus christ and eugene petersons new testament are better
