My 1972 short stroke Norton Commando 750 race bike built by Herb Becker on the 'Stay Tuned' dyno in Burlington with Don Morris.
The new "Fullauto Technologies' head with Herb's big valve mod worked excellent with some good power and big torque numbers. JS Motorsport rods and pistons working great as well.
The bit of smoke is exactly as his Norton motors always run as he leaves out the rubber valve oil seals.

I remember back in the day someone putting 36mm amal carbs and an SS cam and got a timed 130mph out of an unfaired Norton 850!! It was in an old copy of either MCN or "Motorcycle".

The Dunstable cam was a bit better than the SS one.

@@Lyingleyen Paul Dunstall he built race parts for Norton’s.He sponsored a rider called Ray Pickerall on a 750 who was quick. He shop was in Eltham South London Well Hall Road. Ray did race against Mike Hailwood, Bill Ivy and Phil Read at Brands Hatch in the 60’s was a great meeting. Hailwood 297 cc Honda was such a machine thrashed everyone. I could hear it all around the track howling away.

This bike now has twin 39mm Mikuni's and a megacycle cam, billet short stroke crank, one off hand finished Fullauto head with smaller bathtub combustion chambers. On my old long stroke racer, I was radar gunned at 129 mph at Daytona, this motor would do much better

@@DouglasLMacRae Not bad for an old Norton. Luckily those 750 engines are stronger than the old 600cc dominator one. They used to blow up a lot, to stressed I think.

70 at the wheel ?

MarcS4R we were getting about 72 at the rear wheel here but huge torque numbers, pulls like a train out of the corner. We got the HP up later in the season when we finally realized we running it too rich, when we backed off the jetting there was more power and revs

thats awesome. i a riding a stock 850 MKI and i would love to get a little more performance out of it. maybe some day ill upgrade to a similar setup.
