Well... there is no "real top". If you have a small but real fanbase that's already an achievement. If you sign with a major record label that is also already being "at the top". There are several levels within "the top". A "poor" north-american person is already within the "top 10%" or so of the world's population in terms of financial matters. Within the music industry you also have several layers, based on size of audiences and popularity reach. That will be converted into monetary gains to the artists, which will make them become financially rich, which is correlated to being famous, but not the same thing. She was "at the top" when she was launched as a professional music artist, but she was not yet at the top financially. Now she has reached a higher level, with a much larger audience and financial success. The reason she is singing in Spanish and making certain types of music is that this is what's bringing more popularity and revenue (middle and lower social classes of Latin American subcultures and countries can be reached via social media and RU-vid etc. whereas that was much more limited before smartphones and Facebook and Instagram, etc.). Over ten years ago these "teen idols" would have to go through Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, etc. and reach a more selected audience. There were more filters between any artist and the public reach. Now things have switched a bit, and the audience can "elect" what they prefer (as you can see with views and likes in the videos). Anyway, singing in Spanish can reach the whole Latin America more directly, without losing the American audience (which is already very influenced by Latin subcultures).
She really became one of the biggest artists in the globe. Persistence and market positioning were two keys. She connected to her roots and her audience expanded.
@@lionlikemessengerBecky G really blew up when she expanded to Spanish language music. She kind of stalled at mid tier doing English language but when she started doing reggaeton and pop en español is when she rose to top level status. There her recent Mexican music album and collabs out her as one of the top in Spanish language music
@@babuybabuyan oh my god slayy, i also meant that she is the same age but i couldn't correct it since editing comments is glitched on mobile, im listening to Total (from ephorize) right now
I learned this entire song when I was in 10th grade, now it's been 3 years outta high school and I'm checking on her only to see a whole new/different Becky
janet kwenah This song came out my first year at a camp. The second singing in the shower came out (iconic) I memorized them both. I was a huge fan. I want the old Becky :(
Becky G goes in soo hard on this right here! Only reason they aint getting more hits is cuz Becky G aint just watchign that short *on my channel* explaining how all these rappers out here be blowing up so big
I dont really wanna put celberties out like that, pero like, there are a LOT of celeverties que son whitewashed/racist about our heritage, like Ronnie Hawk
+Gilberto Zúñiga I guess people aren't patient enough to understand all of this..I mean who will hav time to understand the music and listen to the lyrics carefully and understand tht JL is the person who told Becky to do this to get started...At the end JL did come and a line did come, "Shout Out to Lennifer Lopez!"..I guess they didn't listen to it and skipped it, becuz they are impatient! Thank god u,I and some are patient!
This is crazy but I am a grown ass man and I tear-up at the end of this video everytime I watch it. Good to see I am not the only one. Very well made and super creative.

Becky G is my favorite singer Becky G's song comes on it's a clear ringer I turn up the sound with my finger Becky From The Block Is My Favorite Song I announce that with a gong Peace out, have no doubt
I love her development as an artist and can we appreciate the “If you wanna date me you better ask my daddy / and my thirty uncles you can meet them in the alley” 😂😂😂
I've actually never seen the video for this, so first view. Haven't heard this song in a minute. She's got a real left-eye style to her voice. Probably would have made a good step up to the plate when left-eye passed away.

I love when Jennifer Lopez made this, and the fact that Becky made a remake, AND included J-Lo, I'm in love 💕💕 Plus it includes a small portion of her life story and living situation. I'm Puerto Rican so I went through the same thing. But I love how humble she is.
Trip out how far she's come. My 13yr old daughter used to bump her back when this song came out. Last weekend she came to San Diego so we went to see her perform live and it was different vibes but she still enjoys to bump her.
