Become a bass technique ninja!... "The Ultimate String Crossing Exercise" Become a Bass Technique Ninja!… The Ultimate String Crossing Exercise (L#133)
This is great for your left hand, here is something for your Right hand Guy's. NOTE: FOR FINGER PLAYERS Keep your Index finger on the G String and start plucking the D string with your middle finger, do this for 10 minutes. Then do the opposite for 10 minutes, Middle on G and pluck the D string with your Index. Then keep your Middle finger on the D string and pluck the G string with your index finger for 10 minutes. Then vise versa, Index on D and pluck the G with your Middle finger. Go trough all the strings like this and try to play a scale, this exercise changed my play style COMPLETELY! Have fun!
Hi Scott, thanks for all your videos, i like them all, i would like to ask you if doing this exercise using boxes is good too or not, i mean i knew this exercise already, but i do it using the modes positions, for istance when Cmaj7 i do it on 3 strings, but i play C on A string, then E and G on D string and then B on the G string, i always did like that because i figured out it could be of help making the modes even more solid in the memory of my hand, now i do it one time at my own way and one time like you show in the video, playing the third always on the same string of the root, but...is there a particular benefit doing one way or the other? I hope it's not a stupid question.
when you talk about a major chord with a 7th, I understand that you use a major 3th, but I don't know which 7th should be added, the half tone before the 8ve, ore the entire tone before de 8ve.... May it be just a matter of ear? how can I know what 7th should I use???
I dont understand why when you play the sound of your bass its like a korg M1 with a buzz string. Im not sure if is your performance, your string action or all together. thank you
I can play along with tabs just fine, but this really makes no sense to me? Any place i can learn this musical language that you use, so i wont be limited to just reading tabs?
Because with those arpeggios you're harmonizing the C major scale, and if you follow the sequence of the notes you'll find that in G you got a major third (B) and a minor seventh (F) for a dominant chord or a Mixolydian mode. Talking about modes, the fifth of every major scale is always a dominant seventh chord. Hope this helps.
In this exercise all the arpeggios use only the C major scale notes: C D E F G A B. For each note you play only the thirds, so you get C E G B (which is Cmaj7), but for G it's G B D F (which is G7).
