Time for another Tips & Tricks episode from the Tucker Team! This week my focus isn't on a specific technique, but rather on a general skill that doesn't even involve your sewing machine: Becoming a Block Detective.
A Block Detective is able to look at a quilt and can identify the units or "Building Blocks" that the project is made from. This is a quilting skill that becomes easier the more familiar you are with the craft, but I'd like to encourage you all to cultivate regardless of your experience. It's invaluable if you want to change a pattern to suit your needs, or if you've been thinking about designing your own quilt projects!

Becoming a block detective just evolves from experience. I never used to be able to do it but now, many quilts later, it is quite easy (for me) to identify the different components of a block. It's quite fun, actually. Thanks Deb. Love all your tutorials!!! (and tools!!)

Thank you so much for your tips and tricks; I have been playing block detective for a while, if I can convert some 1/2 square triangles to a flying geese units, I did it in a heart bit just because I love using your wing clipper tool so much. 🤣 Also wanted to thank you for the detailed information about square square ruler, I understand it and love to use it now.
