I knew a few guys who did this swipe drive thru. It annoyed me as a defender but it’s actually smart. Defenders that reach are usually leaning forward. So once you swipe their arm you already have a step on them.

you do it when the defender’s arm is in front of you. they can’t legally block you with their arm and you’re allowed to swipe it away.

Use back of your wrist or forearm to deflect their reaching hand. If you grab another player that’s a foul in every league.

You don’t have to swipe (you can) but really when you crossover you “knife” with that hand. Shoot it down so you get low and the defender can’t reach across your body

This is an offensive foul. They don´t call it, slowly the rules have been changing to allow more contact to the offense and less to the defense. We can see daily on NBA when the offensive player initiates the contact but it's called a defensive foul. For me, this destroys the game, making it too hard to defense un-balancing the sport. Nowadays, baskestball is a different sport it was 10 or 15 years ago.

I agree, the off arm swipe that he's showing can be effective, but when the defender follows you, you must take a tight angle and crowd his airspace. This prevents the chase down block. He talks about that in his other shorts, but doesn't mention that here. You always want to close the gap between you and your defender when you get past him.
