Becoming a Tattoo Artist WITHOUT knowing how to draw. {my story} 

I get what you were trying to get across but just because you can skip the basics doesn’t mean it’s the right way. If you’re going to do something that you’re serious about, don’t half ass it. I respect the industry so it was my duty to learn about the craft and that means learn the basics like drawing. Respect yourself as an artist because if you don’t do that for yourself as an artist than no one will. This isn’t an attack to you but all that “do what makes you happy” isn’t enough. Showing up isn’t enough, you gotta put in the work!

I used to tat before I went to prison, been drawing since I was young so that was my hustle in the feds, got out and got my cdl a, and still love art, so I picked it back up again. The good thing about doing tats is it frees your mind of the stresses of the world, you put on music and throw something together. If I could urge people that are considering doing tats work on shading and techniques, they make the tattoos what they are.

Dont let the haters in the comments get you down. One of the main things about art in itself is the perspnal journey of it all. If the skill comes later in life I dont see the big deal.

Yo! I’m 28 years old I’ve been tattooing at home for about a year I just got an apprenticeship at a local shop.

I go to a high school, it's considered to be one of the hardest ones in my country and most people get really good jobs and careers after finishing that school. Even tho I go to that school, that's not who I want to be, I want to be an artist and pursue my dream and my life goal. I want to tattoo an make music but everyone thinks tattoing is not a real job and that I will end up with no money...I just really want to do it, I love drawing, designing and making every kind of art and I can see myself as a tattoo artist, so I will try my best to do it, thanks!

I think you dont have to know how to draw, you just need to start and stay committed to learning and being vulnerable w yourself. Anything in the creative field you have to be down for the long haul
