The Mirror’s film celebrating 100 years of Britain’s first council estate, the Becontree, which opened the Romford Film Festival.
The film has been created in proud collaboration with Barking & Dagenham College and Norther Heart Films, featuring a soundtrack by local artists Bill Bragg and The Dagenham Girl Pipers.

I lived there for years before moving out of Becontree. A lot of happy and also sad memories. We used to chat over the fences with neighbours. As the years moved forward fast they had either passed over or moved away in the end.....

Our first marital home from 1980 was in Rowney Road. Happy memories of taking our small children to Parsloes Park

I remember when Broad Street had a village atmosphere and the people were employed and employed locally and school holidays could be enjoyed at Leys swimming pool . A continuous Labour run council , Labour MPs and a couple of Labour governments destroyed all that .
