That enharmonic change in the last movement was beautiful

These are so beautiful, but damn are they hard. The first page instantly, right hand plays quick tenths and it's difficult to arpeggiate them in allegro.

This is great, and the pianist is great too

Pretentious notation. But a pretty piece

Like many romantic pieces, thematically, let's say, weak.

Care to elaborate on that statement?

@@maestoso9165 There is nothing to "elaborate", that's just a fact

@@argi0774 Well, it is quite subjective. I would agree that these are somewhat “weak” but they’re only album leaves, after all. But romantic music in general , I think calling the whole periods music mostly weak, thematically, is pretty ignorant. In fact some of the most capturing melodies I’ve heard are from composers such as Liszt, Rachmaninov, Bortkiewicz, Alkan and other romantic composers

@@maestoso9165 You are naming some exceptions. But even these are not always an exception
@maestoso9165
@maestoso9165 Год назад
@@argi0774 Well most well-known musicians are exceptions to the mediocrity that is the norm. Because this is something that is different for everyone, I can’t say that someone is definitively a good musician. But here is a more comprehensive list of what I’d consider great romantic composers; Beethoven Schubert Brahms Wagner Chopin Liszt Alkan Tchaikovsky (Anton) Rubinstein Berlioz Rachmaninov Scriabin Arensky Saint-Saëns Paganini Bortkiewicz Moszkowski Paderewski Grieg Gade Dvorak Strauss I/II Sibelius Franck Mendelsohn Gounod Bruckner Smetana Borodin Balakirev Bizet Rimsky-Korsakov Faure Noskowski Scharwenka Janáček MacDowell Glazunov Busoni Beach Granados Godowsky Kreisler De Falla Dohnanyi Respighi Medtner Bartok Atterberg There are a good few more, but these are all composer that have written at least one (but in many cases more) piece that I, and many others, consider to be great. And that’s only the ones I like. But it’s not a black and white case. Your opinion is not universal. Mine is not universal either. So you cant say that it’s “just a fact”, cause it’s really not
