Hello everyone, I was deeply saddened by the recent passing of maybe the most influential guitar player for me, Alexi Laiho. I started playing guitar when I was 11, with an acoustic guitar, learning Romanian songs. My first introduction in the Rock genre, Punk sub-genre was Green Day. That is when I got the chance to play on electric guitar, and later bought this Jackson I use in all my videos (my only guitar). Then after some years of playing mostly punk, which consisted in power-chords, one of my friends showed me Children of Bodom. I can clearly remember being reluctant and not liking the growl. But then I heard Lake Bodom, then Bed of Razors. The guitar-work on those two songs blew me away to the point where I became obsessed with this band, so much that I completely ignored the growls, which after some time I started to enjoy. This song (Bed of Razors) I played the most throughout my entire life and I'm sure I can play it blindfolded. Then I listened to some more music from Alexi, from his earlier work on Sinergy, loved most of the songs there, especially Pulsation. I am glad that this video is finally starting to get some attention, although the circumstances could've been better. All in all, I will finish this rant by saying that Alexi was the biggest influence in my guitar playing, and that I hope he gets to play the guitar, as he always did, wherever he might be. I will never forget the music he created, and hopefully more people will get to appreciate it and listen to it. Thank you for the kind comments, stay safe and enjoy music!
Fuck man I didn't know he passed away! I've been away from the metal scene for a while now. This is super sad to hear. He was a brilliant composer and a virtuoso..
We thank you, you covered this masterpiece...not to mention how perfectly managed it is❤thank you so much..and COB means so many things for so many people..so you're not alone with this thoughts👑
Great work, really, God bless you and your family and may the Good Lord bring some peace upon his family and rest his soul! He was very talented and so are you. Brilliant work!
The person who gave this a dislike is clearly not a CoB fan.. this is seriously the best cover of bed of razors on RU-vid imo. Thank you for sharing, I shall go practice my guitar now xD
I love how seamlessly Alexi wrote songs that combined metal with classical, punk, blues and jazz. He was such great writer and musician. It'll be a long time before we see his kind again.
There used to be a video for two of Alexi when he was in music school playing fusion improv, he was a monster back in the day at any style you could imagine
back at it again? I know i've probably heard it a million times and half a million times i've heard you play it, but never have i gone bored of it. Awesome interpretation as always !!!
Im so jealous you guys can play bodom songs. Im stuck with no creativity or ability to branch out from my usual metallica songs. Maybe one day i can play as good as this.
I have a strong feeling that Alexi was the one to compose the Bed of Razors keyboard solo for Janne. Janne never really uses sweeps and bluesy bends. I have been a Bodom fan for 13 years and have been playing keyboards for the same time. There are lot of solos from the early era that Alexi may not be getting credit for.
Dude, that was amazing.....so effortless, your right wrist technique is pristine, you have improved a lifetime distance from your first uploaded video. Congrats...great tone BTW
