Brilliant, the boxer motors are lovery, that torque does indeed fire you out the corners. Sadly (some) people dismiss them 'i don't like BMW's', usually when i ask them 'have you ridden one', the answers is 'no'. I just nod and smile.
Cheers Chris, it took a few years and a couple of wrong purchases to figure out what I want in a bike... the low/midrange torque coupled with the sophistication of the chassis ticks all the right boxes! It's not perfect but it's the best bike I've owned so far 👍 The BMW boxers still have an "old mans bike" reputation that is proving very hard for them to shake off sadly.
When you consider in the last two days I’ve watched this with you holding your own on a race track with track bikes and seriously sporty bikes, also rode for 15 miles on little more then a dirt track it just shows what a great bike this is. Let’s not mention you could strap some luggage and tour Europe no bother. Top man Rikky
Wow I missed your comment Bob! Sorry about that I loved seeing it at the time! Yeah I'm really enjoying the bike. My only problem is that I'm doing more miles than I should be relative to the PCP milage allowance! I've got to decide whether to ride it less this year or throw caution to the wind 😊
@@RikkyTang I managed to scrape the money together to buy my second hand R1250R but I’m in the same situation with my car at the moment, I’m looking to see if I can PX and upgrade. But back to bikes I really love the R great allrounder and massively underrated as your videos prove. Keep up the good work mate
Hi Chris, I think I have read that after about 48° (according to the bikes computer) you will start scraping the heads. I've got to 47 so far with no head-scratching! You will scrape the footpeg feelers first to give you some warning! The bike hasn't got a top-end rush like a four cylinder but it is awesome at accelerating out of corners and overtaking traffic. It's rather heavy IMO, but handles well!
Great response Rikky. Just what i was after. I’m Actually pondering over the R9T for the occasional track day (coming from a Gen 4 S1000RR). Something a bit more civilised for the street.
Nice riding! I recently traded my R1200R LC (2015) in for a 2020 1250 version. These are really awesome all around bikes. I had tracked the 1200 once, and plan to do more with this one. One track question for you on this bike - do you change the stock peg feelers at all for the track? I found myself scraping them quite a bit on my 1200 during my track day with it. Think I probably just needed to work on body position more.
@@jpetersen619 I'm still getting them down with the suspension on max preload! In all seriousness it might be a good idea to replace them because if you wear them down then the cylinder heads won't be far behind!
