Bedroom Closet Organization Transformation With IKEA PAX Closet System

In this video we are going to show you the before and after of how we made a small bedroom closet and transformed it using the Ikea Pax Closet System.
We added tons of drawers, 24 to be exact, with their amazing soft close hardware that we love. There is plenty of hanging space as well.
This Ikea Pax closet system is perfect for a shared bedroom closet or it works well for a very organized office closet. Our girls where sharing this bedroom closet for a while until we turned it into our new home office closet.
We have used the Ikea pax wardrobe in many places throughout out rooms to help with home organizing.

Lindsay! Thank you! Yes! Drawers make such a difference! I have found that as long as my kids and I define the drawer’s use they can very easily keep it clean and put away properly. Whereas when they have several types of things in one drawer things get messed up really fast... which is the reason there are so many drawers! But it worked really well!!

Your remodel and challenges mirrored my own closet conversion. I worked with a 12 foot wall closet with 4 ugly sliding doors and was able to fit 7 units in the space with the same wooden and mirror doors you used. The tough part was closing the gaps on both sides and the top gap. All is well, it looks like a built in unit and I'm proud to have done it myself.

It is so helpful for planning! I like to make a list of what I need to store and then just make sure I have a place for everything!!

Yes, that is a totally valid point! Technically the girls dresses are still hanging up, but they are short so it worked! If this room was for an adult- I definitely would have done that!! (Having the two totally equal halves if the closet- helped us avoid fights too...)

Ha! I get jealousy myself, in my bedroom I only had room for 6 drawers (which I know is still a lot, but still...) I could definitely find a place for all my own stuff in this closet!

This is a cool idea. I am struggling to think of ways to handle the nooks on either end of my closet right now. You guys solved that by widening the entire entrance to the closet. I like it.

I don't remember exactly, but it was over $2000 dollars. Not cheap but we where able to not have any extra furniture in the room because it is so organized. And and it's a small room.

This came out perfect! Thank you for the idea. I just moved to an apt, I finally realized that it may be beneficial to invest in the Pax system ( to utilized its vertical space) vs buying a chest of drawers. Question: It appears you used the 92 in height closets.

Yes! We used the full height units in the room! It helped us have space for hanging clothes above the drawers. seriously this system is absolutely my favorite! (we do have the shorter unit in a basement bedroom, where plumbing pipes were in the way, it is still better than your average closet, because of all the different options for organizing! ) Good luck with whatever you choose to do!!

Yes!! That’s why I wanted so many drawers so that my girls could separate their shirts from their pants from their skirts from their dresses and so forth to really compartmentalize!! And within the drawers, We’ve been file folding our shirts (for the last couple years)! I still need to read her book, but her new Netflix series I have loved!!

It would be best to consult with a contractor. There are many factors involved. Without being in the space its hard to describe.

looks great guys did you just purchase the doors from ikea separately with the hardware and attache them your selves after the fact? was there a trick to it my wife wants some drawers in our closet and i think this is the way to go. let me know thanks !

At Ikea you can buy everything separately. We bought the doors a year later because we were having a hard time deciding what we wanted. So if you just want drawers you can go to the store and find the right size. Good luck! We love Ikea.

Very cool! We’re doing the same thing in our master bedroom. Do you have any tips for the trim for the edges? We’re installing them and we’re assuming the wardrobe frame should be flush with the wall, and that the doors should fall in front. The trim would go flush with the wardrobe unit without affecting how the doors will swing? Thanks!

If you are using Ikea then the trim won't be a problem if it's flush with the cabinet or with the door. Their hinges are awesome, I use them everywhere. We would live to see how it turns out.

The inside dimensions are 23” deep. They are really nice!

@@Remodelaholic thanks l have a narrow bedroom and only the 35cm will fit allowing enough walking space. Shame really as the hanging space looks awkward to use.
