kinda cool that our in-game name chance to LUMINE when she speak to Aether. after all, other just calling us as Traveller. such a nice detail to that one. i was silent crying when that scene happend....also Aether giving Lumine a gentle headpat....i cant T_T
I can't believe how incredible this quest was and was still less than 2 hours?!? Absolutely incredible, and much emotional damage. I love you, Hoyo. Also the reveal of "Lumine" being canon blew me away, because it's not just that people call us traveler, i think canonically they are saying what the subtitles say, aka Yessenia/Aihkii, but this reveal is basically telling us that the name we chose at the start of the game is just the alias that Lumine decided to go with when they introduced themself to characters in the world. And I absolutely LOVE this reveal. Not only is it a bit of a mind-fuck in a cool way, but it also allows them to actually voice scenes down the road like this one where Aether can actually say our name aloud and not have to dodge around 'traveler/you/etc' forever. Fantastic choice! I also think it's really interesting that they let us see this scene that our character forgets. There have been a number of instances in the game where they've revealed that the protag knows a lot of stuff that we the player don't know. Such as this reveal about them using an alias in Teyvat, and the first Dainsleif quest revealed that they'd been searching for information about Khaenri'ah the whole time we'd been playing, and we had no idea. Not to mention the fact that they DO remember tons of stuff from before they arrived in Teyvat, and we the player still have no idea about that history and where they came from. I remember being blown away by that first Dainsleif quest, because it felt like a big twist that the protag is not actually a self-insert at all, they are in fact a mysterious character with their own story and motivations that we are not privy to. And so this moment with our sibling is an incredibly intriguing inversion of the dynamic, in that for once WE know something about this bigger picture plotline/their lives that the protag has no memory of. But also it is HEARTBREAKING that they forget it. ;-;
Also fyi for anyone wanting to know, the first Sumeru text message reads: "Farewell, Atossa. I apologize for making you know me unwillingly. Still, I don't wish you to forget me." And the one on the photo reads: "You two should get along well as siblings."
