When I was 14 years old in the 9th grade back in 1998, in my drama class, the teacher gave us an assignment/project to pick a song to lip sync to in front of the class. I had always loved this song so I decided that this was the song I was going to do. I got my mom to take me to a vintage clothing store and I bought an awesome 70's disco outfit to wear...white polyester bell bottom pants, platform shoes, and a brown yellow and orange polyester disco shirt with a big wide pointed butterfly collar...When the day came and it was my turn to perform, I walked into the classroom in my disco outfit and started lip syncing and dancing to Staying Alive. The whole class went crazy, everyone was clapping and cheering...they loved it and my performance was voted everyone's favorite...needless to say I got an A, lol. I was nervous as heck to do it because I had always been very shy at school, but I'm so glad I did. I was really proud of myself for having the courage to do it. I will remember that day for the rest of my life. 😁
@@patriciabravoriscal6264 Sorry, without John Bee Gees would have stayed country singers. That film brought them top of the world. Bee Gees were unknown before this film.
@@karlerasure Noo... The Bee Gees were already very successful and famous long before the film. The Bee Gees music is really good; specially the music of "Saturday Night Fever".
This brings the happiest days of my life back, roller-skating, great movies-awesome John Travolta at his finest, DISCO was everywhere and life and the economy were easy.
This video reminds me that, in 45 years, I’ve never tired of hearing this song. It’s my go-to wake up song, energizing me every time. I danced to it this morning with my nine-month-old grandson. It also reminds me of my first love. We met in 1982. I was 18. He was 23. He was tall, thin, with facial features that resembled John Travolta. He smoothed his dark hair back, wore a similar black leather jacket and heeled shoes like Tony in SNF. He walked like him and tried to sound like him. Although I found this behavior to be weird, I was fascinated with him and taken in by his charm. We dated for two years. He charmed women of all ages, with his handsome smile and never-ending terms of endearment. They blushed and giggled, perhaps because it seemed that John Travolta himself was paying them attention. I was somewhat jealous at times. But, mostly impressed with how easily he made people, especially the ladies, smile. 37 years have passed since I last saw him. I think of him often. I wonder if he’s outgrown his Tony phase or if the Tony persona stuck with him permanently. Thinking of him at the age of 63 strutting by like Tony wearing a black leather jacket, heeled boots, and slicked back hair brings brings a huge smile to my face.
Omg. For a minute i thought you were my long lost girlfriend talking about me. I had to double check the details. Wow! Thank you for sharing that very similiar memory! 😊
Growing up in Cameroon, television had not yet arrived in the country and Saturday Night Fever was the first ever music album I bought with my pocket money. I must have been 12 or 13. To this day, I know all the songs by heart
Juliaflo Oh man I totally agree with you! I never want to see a remake of this or any other well made classic movie ever! Just leave it alone for the great movie it was!
This movie and sound track blew me away when it first came out never heard vocals like that before it was magical with a great story line always makes me smile :-)
Born in the mid 70's, pity I wasn't born 15 years earlier. At least I was born when this came out and I can vaguely remember only a few years later when I watched the movie for the first time.
Brilliant song by the bee gees remember this saturday night fever watched this movie with my dorm mates, at that time we were only in our late teens now we are in our 50's lol still it makes you feel young when you hear this music all the time thanks for sharing...
When I was in school my dad took me ar Sterling theater and we family saw the movie. Enjoyed watching with dad who was wonderful & BEST dad in the world.who took me in the theater and saw many good movies. Thankyou Dad for everything you did for us.
When that movie came out, it was like a ROCKET BLAST !!! Everyone went to see the movie and listen to the Bee Gees. That was all we talked about... It was soooo ALIVE !!!
This is going to be my funeral song. But I am going to fake my death and then when everyone is standing around my coffin this will come on and I will slowly rise out of my coffin while the graveyard fills with smoke and disco lights come on.
I was 20 in 1977, and although disco was sort of on the outside, this movie took it and made a parody of it, and actually increased the "disco fever" and increased the popularity of the Bee Gees. It hyped up the disco scene just as platforms were getting higher an higher!
The time of many comments is astounding As solace from this song, many are finding Any broken heart, this song will be mending Joy from this song will be never at all ending Bee Gees have given us immense pleasure Hearing this song will remove every pressure Among songs, this beauty is a sure treasure The value of this, only the viewer can measure.
Travolta recently attended an Indian Award Show and he danced to Bollywood beats with so much grace. 30 odd years is often a great time to forget the achievements of a terminally handsome legend like him. They've chosen the shots for the beginning of this film so well. I need to watch it again. Dad says this was a rage when he was 20. I can't FATHOM how inspiring John really is PLUS mad love for the Bee Gees.
I wouldn't go that far. It isn't the type of expression you just throw around on any video otherwise it loses it's value. Plus it's a bit of a stupid thing to say. I would say Pulp Fiction is better but I wouldn't say it was the best.
I wouldn't go that far. I loved it too, I saw it 27 times in 1977. New York City of course. It was great, it was a great time to be 18 years old. Nice to have seen this. Good memories. Fun times. We all grew up, wow!!!!
Oh but those were the good old days, when girls wore their best heels and dresses, styled their hair and practiced their dance moves - all for Saturday Night!
Born in '58, danced the floors of the discos in '77/'78. If you could dance like these guys, You " Were in like Flint", with the girls. They loved macho dancers.
Thomas Holmes I know I was born in 1955 and I was hot!!! Low cut dance dresses high heels on the dance floor my new husband fighting off the men damn I wanted to have fun and get laid by every guy there!!!!
There are certain films that are so important, to most of us, they form the backdrop to our lives. This is one of those films, because the music was just epic. There was life before Night Fever and life post Night Fever. Star Wars (the original one) is one of the other films. John Travolta was a young actor and perfect for this role. How many of us can do the moves? They become ingrained in our memory. The Bee Gees were a band that adapted to the music popular at the time. They became almost timeless and so prolific too. The 70's were a decade I remember for being better than now. Less pressure, no internet, less money, but just a nicer time to be staying alive. We have lost the plot as a species, but the music reminds us of a better time. 🕺
I was 20 years old when this movie/disco music came out in 1977. I never got into the disco mood then til a decade later and I was living for some odd reason but like other disco music and dance to the beat. In 3 years this movie/music hit will be 50 years old or 1/2 century and all in this video will be above 70 years old and over, with some of them dead.
