Bee Gees To Love Somebody Reaction
Video starts at 01:51
1. This song should be longer. I feel like it's cut short, I wanted more. Like at least a couple more minutes.
2. I felt like the cello was very prominent for some reason and also the french horn played a couple of prominent parts in my opinion. ya i don't know why but that's what I heard.
3. Felt like they used ALL the instruments
4. I love the push and pull in this song with the dynamics.
To Love Somebody
Bee Gees, Bee Gees
There's a light
A certain kind of light
That never shone on me
I want my life to be lived with you
Lived with you
There's a way everybody say
To do each and every little thing
But what does it bring
If I ain't got you, ain't got?
You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you
In my brain
I see your face again
I know my frame of mind
You ain't got to be so blind
And I'm blind, so, so, so blind
I'm a man
Can't you see what I am?
I live and I breathe for you
But what good does it do
If I ain't got you, ain't got?
You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you
You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you
You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody

This song was written for Otis Redding to sing but he died in a plane crash before he could sing it. So The Bee Gees sung it themselves. I heard Berry said that he thought that it didn't do so well in the UK because it was an obvious R&B song and they weren't ready for that.

At the time stamp of 4:14 where the tiny pause is and Maurice comes in with the high sound of "Ahhh", Maurice does a right forward shoulder roll b4 hitting the sound ...on the actual video clip from '67...idk why, but I like the shoulder roll! Lol...I also like that it's only Maurice voice. So often it's hard to pick out a singular voice in this group (unless they want you too!).

I wish it was longer, too. I think that the radios wouldn’t play a song over three minutes, in the 60s and 70s. That’s why Skynyrd’s record label discouraged FREE BIRD, which we know turned out to be VERY successful. I was about grown before I knew the BGs had a career in the 60s. It’s actually one of my favorite songs, ever.

The fact that they're just insanely talented songwriters with 1 hundred songs that they wrote for themselves as well as other artists being in the top 10 and their diversity is why their music has lasted over 7 decades. Their brother Andy Gibb was an amazing singer songwriter as well. He died too soon in 1988 at the age of 30. Mo died in 2003 and Robin in 2012. They are by far the most talented musical family in the history of music. RIP Andy, Mo and Robin.

Yeah, now you developed their greatest gift to the world. A song not only played by well known artists. Ev'ry real musicion (including myself), loves that song, because of it's endless possibilities to work it out with your own creativity. Also done by the Gibb Brothers in so many different live-versions. That point of view is perfectly matched by the versions of Nina Simone, Janis Joplin and Leonard Cohen or Keith Urban. By the way: In the sixties, they also where real rockin' in songs like "In my own time", "Idea", " The Earnest of being George" or "Lemons never forget".

It has a great template to just take off and do it how you want, and take the melody line where you want. This is probably my favorite Bee Gees song. I used to sing it pre-pandemic when I was doing open mics and the coffee house thing, and I LOVED it when the other players and audience members would jump in and sing harmony with me on the chorus. edit: I commented before you read the list of covers! This song was covered way more than the people you named, probably too big a list to mention everyone, if there was a version where the other side was How Do You Mend a Broken Heart that song came out years later, it was one of two songs they wrote after they broke up for 18 months, this song was meant to be sung by Otis Redding a huge soul singer in the sixties but he froze to death after his airplane crashed in Madison Wisconsin, so they recorded it itself, I think this is when they would start writing songs with other artists in mind, which came in handy when they had to move behind the scenes after the disco sucks period and the Bee Gees were so aligned with disco their brand was ruined for a time, never fully made a comeback in the US, you should react to their Medley from their One For All tour, it has songs from the sixties, songs they wrote for other people and some from the disco period

@@jaybrielakoi7747 There's quite a bit of hidden gems in their 60's catalogue, some hits, some not. Most of it overlooked especially after they changed their sound and became super popular. It's pretty common for the die-hard Bee Gee's fans to prefer the pre-disco era, which is usually how we categories Bee Gee's. Pre-disco era, Disco and post-disco era. I suppose the fact that we do that lends argument to the idea that disco Bee Gee's were the peak, as it basically defines them. I'd say cohesively, there disco work is objectively better with hit after hit. There's really not many a bad song in their disco era, whereas there are at least a couple stinkers on most of their 60's albums. May I suggest another 60's song? It's the very one that broke up the band for a few years. First of May. It was the battle between it as the single or Robin's Lamplight. Barry's song won, so Robin left the group. Bad history aside, it's a good Barry solo performance.

A lot of people believe (And I used to be one) that this song was written specifically for Otis Redding, and that the BeeGees decided to record after he died. I thought so too until I realized the dates didn't match up to that story. Otis loved the song when he heard it. He mentioned it in an interview or something. He was going to cover it. The BeeGees couldn't have decided to record it after he died. To Love Somebody was one of the songs on the BeeGees first international album called BeeGees 1st. That album was released in mid July in 1967, several months before Otis Redding was killed in a plane crash on Dec. 10, 1967.

In the early to mid 60s all songs were pretty uniform / formulaic & no longer than three minutes. Only in late 68-69. Through the mid 70s. Did that change. Due in part to the emerging drug culture. Converging with the rise of the singer song writer. As well as prog rock, & the blues based heavy experimental rock of Led Zeppelin. Emerging in 69. Though the songs on the first Zep album. Were old delta blues classics of the 20s & 30s. The way it was played was experimental. Nothing like that fusion / sound existed before.

Another great reaction! I like the way you analyze songs and I get the feeling you say your true opinion about the songs. As opposite of Tragedy this song sounds better on the One Night Only concert in 1997 for some reason. About the length of the song. In the 1960s-early 1970s songs should be limited to around three minutes because of radio playing time. I know you say you don´t like the 60´s Bee Gees much, but that is probably because you have not reacted to the best 60s material. The Bee Gees most successful period was in the late 70s, but many people would say they were best from late sixties to mid 70s. (Personally I love all decades of The Bee Gees) . Some important songs from the 1960s are listed under her. (The songs are from the 60s but the versions are newer) Words (Elvis coved this song) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--hGyrNChk5c.html&ab_channel=JackLimFirst of May: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z5Ri_08oEf8.html&ab_channel=fkwk101 First of May: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z5Ri_08oEf8.html&ab_channel=fkwk101 I´ve Gottta Get A Message to You: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gC4Eq_FZQRw.html&ab_channel=beegees Morgning of My Life: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i8dMlfDtEe8.html&ab_channel=CONOCEALOSBEEGEES

It’s totally disgraceful that you have not reacted to ‘Night Fever’ or ‘More Than a Woman’ - two of the biggest bee gees hits. And by the way, you should check out the 1977 John Travolta movie Saturday Night Fever, which is a classic disco movie and has bee gees songs throughout.
