Absolutely agree.. Funny you say that.. a friend of mine was watching one of the singing competitions on tv, and brought up one having a great falsetto voice and I said.. "Psh! you ain't seen nothing... let me show you something" I showed her this same video.. Tears and shock haha
God Bless his Mom she was 96 a year ago or 2 years 🙏. 2 brothers dead do to illness then hospital screw up. Andy suicide do to he could not handle the 3 older brothers success early 80s I believe. I was and am a fan of all there music 🎶. Andy had 2 I thought quality albums back then.
@@Deveem4738 oh I had not heard of the heart disease Cocaine wrecks your heart. I had a cousin who bought his 2 albums so I got to listen then mom and I bought them as well while he was alive.
@@richardmckinnon8791 Yea, their mom, Barbara Gibb, passed August 12, 2016. Their father, Hugh Gibb, passed 1992, four years after Andy passed. The brothers said it was probably from a broken heart. Maurice died (2003) due to hospital negligence. He entered for surgery on his intestines. Some reports say he had a heart attack before surgery, some say after. He died 2 days after admission. Robin died (2012) of cancer. Some reports say kidney; others say colon. It was determined that the twins had the same intestinal condition since birth. Andy passed in 1988, at the age of 30: drugs. Barry stated he was involved in the 'LA lifestyle.' Their sister, Lesley is the oldest. Let's call her the 'queen bee.' She is 76 and lives a quiet life. Sir Barry will be 75 on September 1st, which is also his 51st wedding anniversary. (Good date! Now he can't forget their anniversary. 😁)
@@brendawilson8208 thank you I did not know about a sister. Andy was a loss I got 2 albums of his after hearing them from a cousin. The Twins huge loss do to they were major song writers 😪
To call them amazing is an understatement 😊 Of all the bands after The Beatles, there's been but a selected few that reflect the very core of which they were born to do and it's to sing 😄 I could not for the life of me be able to carry on with the burden of heartache that Barry takes with him everywhere 😔
Yep, this was my first ever favourite. I was only 5 when it came out and I first heard it; the thing blew my little mind and made me feel some kind of indescribable euphoria. Still gets me to this day.
I met the Bee Gees back in the early 70's a couple of times when they played Detroit. Didn't speak much to Robin, (he left right away), but I can tell you, Barry, (who was travelling with his wife), was completely chill. ...and he got his guitar out and played a couple of songs for us. Later, we went into the bar area and Maurice was there and chatted with us about a lot of things, including his brother, Andy, (who wasn't in the music industry at the time), and his ex-wife Lu Lu! They were such kind, talented, and wonderful people.
I can hardly listen to Bee Gees without tearing up nowadays. I am the oldest of four brothers just like Barry (the one doing the high notes). Knowing that he has lost all three of his younger brothers really puts a bittersweet edge on the music. I don't even want to try imagining losing my siblings.
I am not the oldest but my three younger siblings are gone. We loved The Bee Gees it was our time to enjoy life. So I do tear up when I see Barry on a show or listen to The Bee Gees music.
The vibrato that Barry could put into such a clear falsetto...pure magic. And the three of them in harmony, even after all these years is like hearing flowing silk...
Oh the memories come crashing back! Funny though, I didn't really appreciate them back in the day. Couldn't even claim to really be "into" them except for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. So not the case now😄
They're new to a lot of younger people these days. So many haven't heard of them. The Bee Gees are the third most successful band in Billboard charts history after the Beatles and the Supremes. They ain't no wannabees. 😊👍🎵🎵🎵
The younger people are new to the BeeGees because they are ignorant self centred little fucks. Hopefully the corona virus will kill them all off and our world will be as it was.
Then their little brother comes along with a short tragic life. But he made good music while he was here. His name was Andrew Roy Gibb. He was my age and he died at 30. So sad.
Yes!!!! Andy was my teen idol!! Late 1970's - early 1980's I was in love with him LOL had a poster of him on my wall ❤ I was SO sad to learn of his death! Favorite..... "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I saw so time ago a video about their history, and in the end it showed how barry was the last one, still making shows, even after losing all his brothers. Man, that made me cry big time.
Yes. Their sister, Lesley did not sing with her brothers (one time she did, because Robin was under the weather.) She is the first born. She was 77 yrs old, January, 2021.
Alberta Adams We’re so fortunate that they left us with an amazing catalogue of music! They were truly originals, not covering other artists but paving their own way.
yea I like your reaction, so groovy just sway side to side, thank's dude. I know you must have heard about them. But out of my love to this group, allow me. They are the Brothers Gibb (BG's or later Bee Gees): in the middle with his falsetto is the big brother Barry Gibb. On his sides are his twin brothers 3 years younger than him: Robin Gibb (with his hands on his hip, also lead singer but with etherial vibrato sound, just beautiful, they switch lead in some other songs) and Maurice 'Mo' Gibb, the harmonizer and technical expert. They are singer-songwriter group after the Beatles era, the same era with MJ (in fact they were friends with him), have 5 decades of career-span from 1967. In the 1994-1997 they got all the hall of fame (songwriter, rock n roll), lifetime achv award from AMA, Brit, World, well you name it. They never stop producing hits after hits, for themselves or for other artist. Sadly the twin had passed away, Mo 2003, Robin 2012, so the big brother Barry carried on with his son/nephew/niece to perform (the last gig that i know is 2014, but maybe I was wrong). Also his studio now help produces record for younger generation of singer i think. He is still a strong guy in his 70s now, but perhaps just no longer performs. The Bee Gees is a legend, they firstly into ballads music in Britain influenced by the Beatles (1970s), then move to US and they love the black soul music and is highly influenced by this. If you heared Staying Alive, it is one project for them. But they mainly are in progressive R&B, soul music. Barry remain lives in Miami. Their timeless music will lives on thru generations, I know.
You’re absolutely right! Check out these sisters form the Nederlands covering the Bee Gees ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m_1bteofDEo.html Bee Gees home Isolation medley, recorded separately! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S6161aEIpNo.html
Not only were Artists more talented, songs better written and performances more solid than today’s “artists”, they were classier as was the general public. Keep up the good work, you are my favorite reactor.
Hey Jamal I love this song and this group, The Bee Gees are one of my favorite groups! Let's keep it going with more videos from them ! Could you please react to the live version of Jive Talkin , Night Fever,Stayin Alive to name a few! Also could you please react to their brother Andy Gibb singing Shadow Dancing R.I.P to Andy! Great job once again Jamal!🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺👍😀
The sound of the 3 angels quietly---gently singing. What a treat to look back on them---see and listen to their incredible 30 years of one of kind hypnotizing sound not to be repeated with such success--maybe ever again. Just one angel yet to enter ----ironically----Heaven. Too Much Heaven----Bee Gees you gave it to us here on Earth...Thank you so much!! MPG
Their music is timeless. By the time Saturday Night Fever was released, they had already been in the music business for almost 20 years. Their songs from the 60's were amazing.
Even if metal and classic rock are my favorite genres, I always appreciate real musical talent. And The BeeGees have always been super talented, both as performers and writers. So I've always really enjoyed them. They were big during the Disco Era, but they had a solid career before and after disco as well.
..Hard rock guitarist here, the more i got into songwriting and theory.... the more i realized a good song is a good song is a good song...ABBA, BEEGEES, Beach boys, groups I used to make fun of until I realized the immense, huge talent in every aspect for those groups.
OH! Barry Gibb wrote "Islands in the Stream". He meant it to be a soul song, but Marvin Gaye turned it down (!!!!). Barry changed it up to be a country song, and gave it to... Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. You might be too young, Jamal, to remember when it was a hit in the 80s.
This was around the time of the disco era which was more or less the Bee Gees' second coming. People need to listen to their older stuff from the '60's.
im a 70’s kid and damn proud of it… our music was so awesome and its not made like this anymore… no autotune no nothing.. straight up heavenly gifted generation
@@Samuel-I not only that, but they won EVERY award they were nominated for. 8 Grammy's (3 of those Special Award of Merit), 5 American Music Awards,. 1 Brit Award, 1 World Music Award
These guys had/haves so much influence in the music industry. You should look them up. They have a LOT of songs out there that they didn't sing. The one on the left is Robin, middle is Barry, and Maurice. Last name Gibb. They also had a fourth brother who sang, Andy Gibb. Barry is the only surviving one. These men were phenomenal
I was a young adult when they were popular. Barry Gibb made it hard for all men to measure up to him. Having that voice and being so freakin' gorgeous!! The harmonizing between the brothers was amazing!!
100 years from now people will have the very same reaction. Barry seems to be the most pleased with the back-ups from his brothers...genuinely appreciating their efforts and knowing they are hitting it out of the park.
They harmonized so good, almost like they were related, haha. The hands on the hips is not he's all relaxed, just chilling. It's to stretch the muscles in your chest, get more air in your lungs, hold your notes longer; make you sound better. I say it worked.
This is the videoclip of the song, it's not live they are playbacking. They doublet the vocaltracks in the studio multiple times to get that full sound, it's highly commercial polished music. I like there sixties period much more it is less polished.
I was becoming a teen in the mid sixties. The early BeeGees were the best to me. Andy was good too, but like has been said here many times, Barry has had a rough road with all his siblings gone, and tragically when they weren’t getting along. I have three brothers and two sisters. It’ll be hard to be without any one of them.
Barry Gibb. Even in the 70’s as a kid we were suprised to see who had that voice. Few have ever had their harmonies. Just effortless. The best complement I’ve ever heard about the BeeGee’s came from Alice Cooper. As much as he wanted to hate them. The musician in him couldn’t. Talent is talent.
LOL - “Head and Shoulders contract!” 😂. They have amazing ballads and some super funky dance songs, too! Check out “Nights on Broadway” for one of their more upbeat songs! You are awesome!
I remember being about 8 years old, when disco was still huge in the 70s. I never thought there would be a time when I would listen to this and think "god damn I loved disco"... PS...a ton of kids were made to that song...lol
