they all have the tomato sauce or paste. afritada for us here in laguna or our home only use tomato sauce with carrots, potatoes, bell pepper, spices and meat like chicken or pork. Kaldereta has tomsto sauce and for us, have liver spread, pickles minced, cheese, peanut butter, peas, little chilli and meat is mostly beef or pork and in mechado, most of the ingredients are diced like pork, carrots, potatoes, tomato sauce/ paste, liver spread an bell pepper, those for us are cooked in special occasion because pork or beef are expensive but worth cooking especially these holidays. always luv ur cooking mama lulu 🥰🥰

i sometimes wonder about that, too😁 kaldereta here in the philippines usually is spicy, mechado is not. afritada and mechado looks the same, though i have yet to try beef afritada. pero pwede naman yun, sabi nga nila, di naman magrereklamo ang sahog kung ano gagamitin mo😁

Beef Mechado is my favorite out of all of my grandma's cooking. I remember how it's the only thing that I request every time I celebrate my birthday tapos kung may spaghetti, pancit, at kung ano pa, kahit ano okay lang basta may beef mechado parin. Like other lolas, she won't accept it if I tell her jokingly na may nalasahan akong recipe na masarap sa luto niya. But the truth is, I don't think any grandchild can ever be impressed by other people's cooking more than how their grandmas did. I miss my lola. She's been gone for 4 years now and I haven't tasted any recipe that is even close, let alone better than how she did it. Cherish your lolas, people. Bukod sa masarap ang luto nila, it's guaranteed na it was made with love. Hindi ang flavor, kundi pagmamahal ang tanging maaalala ninyo sa luto ng lola niyo.
nice memory. i didn't experience being pampered by lolas on both my parents' side. now that i am a 53 yr old grandma to three grandkids aged 6 months, 4 and 5 yrs old, i enjoy doing lots of stuff with them i am not a really good cook, but when my 2 apos say what i cooked was yummy, nabola na ako😁 my kids, however, call it tsamba, pag masarap ang luto ko🤣
I feel you. Actually, I don't like laing if my tita yaying won't be the cook. I want only her laing compare to other. However, we don't see each other because they transfer in other city. Until now, I don't want to eat laing if it is not made by her. How sad for you but I believe that you can make it and recover the reciper of your lola. Just try it.😊

I also learned to cook at a young age and, Mama Lulu is right, when you've been doing it for a long time you wouldn't really need measurements. You get some salt (for example), sprinkle it to what you're cooking and there's that gut feel whether or not it's enough. Same goes when you learned cooking from relatives in the province. Tinatantsa is how we call it in Filipino. When you've mastered tantsahan then you can proceed with lutong "pacham" = lutong pa-chamba pero masarap!

I just found your channel and I'm only seven minutes into this video and I just love Mama Lulu with all my heart! She is a perfect version of my Aunt that I lost many years ago to cancer. Her hair is the same color and brushed the same and even her hands are identical. height and weight too. It's like watching someone I lost make new memories, but with subtitles, LOL!. I just happened to see this channel now and, I must say, I enjoyed watching it. This is the only cooking channel that has interaction among family members and, from this interaction, you can feel the harmony reigning in their home. That is very important for me. I think the love for each other among family members adds flavor to whatever Aleng Lulu cooks and it adds also to her passion for cooking. I will definitely try her version of beef mechado.
