In this video, I explain how to install wired wax foundation into a frame. This is a very important thing for new beekeepers to learn since the hive is made up of several frames. It is not a hard task but can take some time if you plan to do very many. Here you will learn the basic steps to the process so you can do your own.
Few items are needed:
1. Hive tool
2. Wood Frames
3. Small Tac Hammer
4. 1/2" Tac or Finish Nails
5. Wax Foundation
Products I use commonly

Sometimes that's all it takes is to see someone doing it first. Glad I could help.

Yes, bee's produce both wax and honey. The wax foundation is sore of a guide for the bees to draw out comb on. Although the bees can build comb without the foundation.

I don't struggle near that hard. I put the cross-wires in first, slip the wax in, staple the wedge then imbed.

you don't use horizontal wire/string as well?

better add some cross wires in the holes to support the wax or you're gonna have a big mess when the heat and bees get to work on it.

Jason, I lik your videos. But, I have a question. You didn't run wire side to side and set the foundation in those. Why did you skip this step? If you try to extract that frame with honey it will blow out in the extractor. Or, don't you extract your large frames?

Working on plastic foundation, see what the problem is there! I use plastic foundation as a embossing only, even quit putting foundation in. So far i let the bee's do it all! They seem to bee more happy! Natural Ways

is the wax foundation what the bee's build the honey comb on? the bee's produce wax and honey correct?

Why do my foundation keep coming loose at the bar

Is it wired waxed foundation? Are you nailing the wooden top bar wedge over top of the bent wires extending the end of the foundation? If so, maybe use longer nails or angle each nail differently than the previous. I usually use 3 nails on the wedge. If all 3 go straight into the wood sometimes they do pull out easier. As where if each nail is at a different angle they fight against other making it slightly hard for it to pop off, freeing the foundation.

I found out the hard way, that where ever the wire is the queen wont lay and egg. The test was i weave the wire, and sure enough there no eggs or cells where the wire was

Imbed the wires in the wax and they will. I have never had a problem with that.

It's a little bit fast to draw out comb, no much difference
