I am trying to teach myself how to paint door hangers just for myself, not for business purposes, but after watching this video and I am compelled to write to you. t You are the absolute sweetest. That's so crazy, I make door hangers also People have copied my designs and I think its a big compliment. I also get ideas from others designs as well, you just have to put your own twist on it. Keep up the good work and don't let anyone get you down.

Hi Tamara......I have watched a couple of your video's for the first time tonight and actually ran across them by accident! This video brought me to tears......You are such a sweet soul with a kind and loving spirit! I worked in the granite Industry here in Georgia for 25 years until I had to have several back surgeries which put me on disability! I had the hardest time not being able to go to work any longer! I got so depressed and down on myself.....I FELT WORTHLESS! That continued for several years until last January (2019) I started watching RU-vid to help pass the time and I got really into watching ladies making Wreath's and I wanted to try it too! I started doing it and they were so beautiful and I felt so good and had a confidence I'd never had before! To make a long story short.......I made wreath's and gave them to family members and friends and they loved them. I then started thinking MAYBE......just maybe I could sell a few and make some much needed extra money....So, I posted some pics on FB and actually sold maybe 5 or 6 of them but now I'm not selling any of them . Everyti,e I post a few I get likes or loves or a few compliments but never anyone wanting to buy one? I've kind of felt like quitting lately but I feel so good about the wreath's I have made that I don't want to give it up! I just wanted to tell you that this touched my heart!
I appreciate you saying this I have been copyed all my life ! I take it as a complainment! I built a salon saloon in our town and now their 3 or 4 buildings built just like mine! I have done all kinds of Art that has been copyed its o.k! You explained it wonderful! thank you for this video
I just came across this video (while binge-watching all your other ones!) and I wish I could reach through the "tube" (and travel back in time) and give you a big old hug! I have been a professional artist for most of my career and every once in a while one of these situations rears it's head and dings us. Your advice was spot on---take a moment, breathe, and respond in kindness. And take your lumps like a grown-up if you have to. You (I mean all of the yous out there) will heal from the hurt, embarrassment, and all the other emotions that emerge and you can learn from the experience. Not right away, but when you are ready to move on, the lesson will be there for you. You have such a kind heart and that is one of the reasons I started following you (plus your laugh and the cool t-shirts)!
Tamara, I just wanted you to know this video touched my heart. I’ve watched your videos long before I got the courage to create AND post to sell something I’ve made. I’m a wreath and floral maker and also trying to finish my interior design degree. Painting has become my stress relief. Kind of funny since that’s how the other started out. Anyway, I wanted you to know as soon as I’m financially able (I’m a member of Southern Charm Wreaths, Terri’s Creation Station and take Damon’s courses lol) I’m going to join your paint group. You have the kindest heart and sweetest spirit that comes through every video I’ve seen. i know this is from a year ago, but I am surprised you haven't made clear what an artist and craft person is allowed to do. If you make something and give it away, don't get anything for it, you are free and clear. No harm, no foul. If you take, use, copy, imitate, expropriate, duplicate (etc.) AN IDEA or A CONCEPT or even A DESIGN you are free and clear. Ideas and concepts, even subject matter and themes or memes cannot be copyrighted or protected. No car company owns the design concept of the SUV. No one, for example, owns the idea of the door hanger, or a door hanger in a specific shape, or one with LED lights or sounds. No one owns the idea of door hangers with flowers, or pets, or public domain (or common) sayings and expressions or seasonal themes. What IS protected is a specific THING. An existing door hanger. The photo or painting of a flower, the face of a cat or dog and photographer or artist made, letter shapes, colors, and placement... or ANYTHING someone already created. Unless really old and clearly in the public domain (copyright expired or never secured (like a lot of stuff on Instagram or Facebook)), if you want to use that image or language, you have only three choices: 1. make your own version. That version is yours. 2. obtain permission or purchase that image or thing. You can purchase copyright for photos online and then that image is yours. (BUT, purchasing an original piece of art, a print or a door hanger or anything from someone else DOES NOT give you permission to copy it!!) 3. Steal it. AND THAT IS IT. Craft people often copy. Artists too. They take bits and pieces, combine things, borrow, imitate. Often this is a grey area or it is allowed. BUT WHEN DO YOU CROSS THE LINE? You cross the line when you take so much from one source that other people can identify that source. (Oh, most of your thing looks just like X's thing.) You've taken too much. It happens in music all the time. SO, when crafting anything, be aware. Just know what you are doing!!
I understand that completely, but people does copy the designs. They do alot copying off of Pinterest. If you look around get your ideas and make your twist to it. That's not copying their work! It has exact to be exact work! I have seen your work don't copy off anybody!! You do excellent work!!
Hi , I Can not share a video, but I recent have experienced accusation from a famous artist claiming that i mirrored work of theres. My first thought was . Oh god what did i do? then the second thought was " but wait ? I never even looked at this persons work as a line of reference" Then my third thought was " This was definitely in poor taste for them to attach a public message to my image as a way to create a negative outlook to my audience when you had the option to e-mail. me or DM me. I never copied, and it was a common pose that had only one similarity which was the arm. This person was someone I admired and looked up to, and it is so disappointing the outcome of this . What I have taken from this is , That I am going to keep making my work, and staying true to what know I am . Amazing !!!
I just happened on this and it pisses me off so bad! I’ve been a visual artist for years and I was so scared until I found out about cartoon and parody then you can do anything you want and if these people can’t get over themselves then it’s their problem!! Case law that opened the doors was Leslie Nielsen photoshopped his head on Demi Moors picture a long time ago!! Huge law suit but they won , cartoon and parody it’s a Beautiful thing it’s the way weird Al Yankovich , don’t have a clue how to spell these names? Anyway every single artist out there copy’s if they say they don’t their lying! I had a rapper come up to me on a job and he said it ain’t copyright if you copy it right!! Keep on doing your thing and you are not an ugly crier!! Tell the haters to get over themselves and they are not getting a buck out of you!! Best of luck to you, Tom…

Same I got accused too and i lost subs and like sand ppl even told me to kill myself and told me Mexicans don’t belong here theif And I didn’t copy And don’t even know the person so idk how did I copy them
It’s ok to copy, as long as you give the original artist credit for their work. We all copy each other, but pretending that you didn’t is just not fair.
