That rod he was holding is called a “carb stone” it’s basically a long rod of very porous stone/ steel that gets CO2 injected into it to force carbonate a beer before it gets packaged. They get inserted into a hole in the tank, and the tank gets highly pressurized during the carbing process. My guess is he was going to disassemble and clean a tank that was no longer in use, but he went for the wrong tank. As someone who works in a brewery, ALWAYS check the pressure in the tank before you touch/ unattach anything. It could save your life!

While high pressure water is dangerous it's not nearly as dangerous as steam. I've seen videos of high pressure steam cutting wood in half. In the right conditions they're impossible to see. You will hear it but you can't see it.
