Aye & fierceness over the good name. Were still Brehon. Living on the mainland makes the differences stand out. Irish neighbours here, hold a reasonable expectation of our mutual, good natures. Assured with great confidence in our sense of what's fair or not & the natives get to know that We will do that as we have said. Over here a person's intent seam's to suffice the moment & not far beyond. There's been days where there'd be no choice but to be fierce. There's still a low level of contempt for Irish here, but not close even to how it was. Everyone knows our fierce sense of responsibility & how that in turn We project upon them, to uphold. I get paid first & it's known i'll pay all others down the line.

The British Empire were Jealous of the Irish People . The Irish had their own advanced Brehon Law's They had their own Culture. They had their own Language They had their chosen Catholic Religion. They had their own Trading European Allies. They may of destroyed this Freedom, but nothing ever lasts forever. Tiocfaidh ár Lá.

This is amazing work! I can’t tell you how many if knowledgeable American Irish have been called fake or plastic for believing in the old things we grew up hearing about!

Is there an Ogham Grove still be found anywhere in all British Isles? Were I not curently a rat racing urbanite I'd wish to have land enough to purchase & plant some saplings to establish one & encourage to do the same. Wassail.

+Brehon Law Academy Any still extant Sacred Groves, esp if planted in the Ogham arrangement, (which I presume would have been for ritualistic & teaching purposes). For all I know this is a recent NewAge fabrication, but it seems nonetheless to be a lovely idea.

3:50 kings were not elected by the people in gaelic society. They were elected from and by the kings family. When you get simple things like this wrong it throws doubt on the rest of your points. I had come here to hear some of the interesting aspects of brehon law vs the common law discussed .While some of your talk is interesting it is jarring when you hear obvious mistakes or imaginings. The main aspect of an individual standing on his own before the law vs. You as a representative of your family before the law and in the worst case scenario you could become outlaw is really interesting. There is loads of written evidence of Gaelic Ireland try to stay away from the Celtic mythology stuff.

Where is your proof that women could be polygamous or that women could be Brehons? Not some example from mythology but actual instances and laws and not some extreme exception.
@braheskolan
@braheskolan 6 лет назад
Well that is the point. There is no proof except from myth and we know that myths are not meant as mirrors of society, that the Gods and Goddesses get to break the rules so to say. I respect and admire your work but women were not Brehons or polygamous. Men were, at least the chiefs and important men, polygamous but not the women and men were Brehons not women.
@braheskolan
@braheskolan 6 лет назад
In other words, zero proof yet you speak as though it is fact. This is dishonest and what all the new age glommers of all things Celt distort and twist to their agenda. Women were not even allowed, with some exceptions, to testify before Brehons yet you will have us believe that this very same society, allowed them to be Brehons. On marriage, there would be records of polygamous women yet there are none, zero, zip, nil. Therefore it never happened and is all wishful thinking, projecting modern values on your ancestors and agenda setting. Let's be honest and not make shit up.
@thedruiddiaries6378

There is no proof that they were not. The cultural context indicates it likely they were.
@irishdc9523
@irishdc9523 5 лет назад
I'd be careful that you're not interpreting difference as absence. Keep in mind that Ireland comes from an oral tradition so there would be an absence of written records. We see it today with the Canadian government rejecting land claims from one of the native tribes because they come from an oral tradition so they have no written records of it, nevermind the fact that you're negotiating territory with a culture that doesn't have a concept of stewardship of the land.
