since the broadband works on 2.4GHZ and the cordless as well is 2.4GHZ wouldn't the wi-fi router frequency interfere with the calling?

That might be a problem with your phone. Contact the seller. Just one thing to check .. you should hear a beep when you place the phone on base unit for charging and display illuminates..

Yes .. it is because base unit needs power and from base unit your cordless receive signal . Without base unit being connected to power your cordless would not work . It is normal with every cordless phone. I hope it help’s

You have to always keep the base unit connected to power, and then the cordless works. Cordless is basically a landline phone
