The shamefully unidentified conductor of this magnificent performance is Vladimir Fedoseyev, one of the true greats and one of the best collaborators for instrumental soloists. Pletnev is superb here, playing with impeccable articulation, clarity, singing line, musicality, and blessedly little pedal, a truly great musician and pianist. This is the best live performance I know of this great concerto.

Estava na sala tomando uma xícara de café. Escutei um piano ao modo lento, marcante, maravilhoso sendo tocado. Não vi que meu computador estava ligado, o som vinha dele. Fui ver que música encantadora estava sendo tocada. Olhei e vi Mikhail Pletnev ao piano. Assentei-me, esqueci meu café, e continuei ouvindo essa interpretação maravilhosa. Parabéns!
‘Ole brother Pletnev sure do pluck that Steinway grand real good. He’s also the modicum of resplendent cool. I especially enjoyed the arpeggios in the slow movement; nice and lustrous dreamy. Quite the nightcap this is. DELUXE! PWG
Oooh, Orchestra Director is Fedoseyev!!! Cristal clear sound! Impressive Concerto by Beethoven (my favorite)! And of course the pianist! Is this the Radio Moscow Shympony Orchestra?
Beethoven was too easy technically to Pletnev at that time, he was a war machine for Rachmaninoff or Prokofiev, you can clearly see that he's just executing what he must do
Wow, almost impossible to play any note better in the 1st two movements. However, I think the orchestra is not really on the same level. I think the orchestra part is at the same level as the symphonies, but not here.
L' orchestre et ou son dirigeant manquent totalement de tempérament et surtout d' énergie ! il semble que l'orchestre soit sur le point de s' endormir en masse. Une masse gluante que cet orchestre, une insulte à la mémoire de Beerhoven.! Fort heureusement le pianiste lui est parfaitement éveillé mais joue Beethoven comme si c' était du Mozart !
