Imagine being a young child watching this from the beginning, really believing that a bunch of random people just magically started singing together.

No matter how many times I see this, the moment the choir joins the orchestra always, always brings tears to my eyes

Now THIS is what every city needs on a daily basis right now - the world needs classical music more than ever. It is a universal language which has the ability to move us all. And the Beethoven Op. 125 just so happens to prove it perfectly!

There are still places where random people can get together and fill strangers hearts with joy, no matter the race religion or caste. Hats off to these people. You made me cry

That conductor is a certified dark art teacher, look how fluid she cast spells on the muggles. Splendid.

To think, Beethoven was deaf when this masterpiece was composed yet millions can enjoy for eternity!!!

To think this masterpiece, heard countless times in all corners of our planet was only heard by the composer in his mind. A man agonizing with the loss of his hearing but instead of wallowing in sadness, he created the ode to joy.

We need more of this, every last person on this planet needs this.

I hope these performers, and all participants in other flash mobs, realize how uplifting their performances are.

Throughout my time on Earth, 44 years, I have listened to everything from Country to hip hop. I keep coming back to the classics. I have gone through a lot of musical tastes. Classical is one that I never get old or boring. I have heard several of them 100's of times. Still nothing comes close to complexity, and yet the simplicity of Classical music.

This will never get old. It will still be played until the end of time. One of the greatest music of all time!

The most powerful emotional sound you'll ever hear, classical music transcends race, creed, status, wealth, greed, hate and replaces them with wisdom .........just awe inspiring

To be so lucky to randomly be a part of something like this. Nothing mainstream today would get this many people to stop what they were doing and enjoy the moment.

The fourth movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony is a popular piece. This makes it so much more amazing how Pauley is able to work out nuances that one doesn't hear in the performances of other orchestras. In the difficult acoustics of a shopping mall, she brings out highlights in the piece that others often miss. Being able to direct the concert without its details floating away in the nooks and crannies of the mall, Marlene Pauley makes her mark as a world-class conductor. Bravo !

This hymn touches my soul, everytime I hear it .Now, to hear a polish orchestra singing it in german, "alle Menschen werden Brüder" means all mankind become brothers, I wish it becomes true some day

And then there's that moment when you realize that the old busker isn't just some old dude playing for loose change ... that you've stumbled on a special moment in a special place. And, for that moment, you are special, too.

Ode to joy is one of the best pieces of music ever created😭🤌

I love how the crowd is balanced with the young and the old that it goes to show that whereever you in the walk of life you just can't help but appreciate good classical music

We all forget how wonderous being alive is , then once in a great while , we all stop together , and celebrate it . One day this , and everything will all be gone , but for ONE short moment … WE were here .. and together .

Watching this in 2021 makes me very sad. Back when everything was normal, no social distancing, no facial coverings, no lockdowns. Normal times like this just have to be returned to us. It cannot and must not be allowed to become a memory.

That is my favorite piece of music, bar none. When the choir began, I burst into tears. I used to have every piece of music Beethoven wrote, all done by the Berlin Symphony and lost them all in a move. Thank you for this. I hadn't heard it in far too long.

flash mobs show just how INGRAINED into all humans a love of music is, countless people all stopped whatever they were doing entirely as the music began, and, all, for even a small moment, truly just appreciated the beauty of sound, with nothing else to taint it, the world needs to learn that despite all differences we have that will ALWAYS divide us, there are core ideas, passions and loves (like music) that are universal, and just like with music, an individual can be strong and moving, but when more come together and play their parts, the strength grows with it, and the whole becomes better off because of it

Remember: Ludwig van Beethoven wrote the music when he was already deaf. The lyrics were written by Friedrich Schiller (peom: "Ode an die Freude"; Engl.: "Ode to Joy").

To see a crowd and little children really enjoying the Ode to Joy look out for the Sabadell, Spain earlier version. No bored adults on any escalators to be seen. Children climbing lamp posts and trees to see and joining in with waving arms. The pure joy of the Ode!

Just imagined I'm one of those lucky audience out there, listening to live performance of one of the greatest compositions in the history of mankind.. my eyes were filled with tears

Music is the only universal language and I love everything about this. I get goosebumps when I am blessed with the opportunity to experience this in person. I have never felt such joy in my life until and since I was blessed/privileged to perform on stage with fellow musicians. Completely a surreal experience.
