A Beethoven Classic: Moonlight Sonata 1st Movement. Please read -
My entire life, I’ve always had a passionate ambition to learn the piano. It’s been roughly exactly 4 Years now that I’ve been acquiring and accumulating Piano technique and mastery.
Despite only learning for four years, I’ve always been unwaveringly intrigued, especially as a young child, what what that little electric / digital machine in the corner of the room comprised of white and black keys produces.
At eight years of age, I sat down at the piano and listened to a song on the TV/Speaker on repeat, as I diligently, moreover assiduously ascertained the right notes to play along with it. No sheet, no lessons or tutorials, I was actually able to perform the entire piece, even BLINDFOLD! I would grab a towel and apply it over my face so I was reliant on the physical rather than visual sensations.
This proves that, not only am I unique and possess a gift, however we humans have the innate capability to achieve this greatness, this significance. I feel like a lot of time people undervalue themselves, they doubt and disbelieve, and for me, Belief is the absolute Key. Visualisation and Belief. - Then Action.
Additionally, it’s not just the fact I am Self-Taught, but in life, to get to know someone, understanding their background is important. Now, what I’m trying to convey for a vicarious acquaintance is, how I began.
I used to listen to remixes of it beforehand and imagine playing it, and performing in front of tons of people... Even though the technique still requires years of practise, I've already accomplished half the process. Applying myself in high pressure situations such as performing in front of hundreds of people in Shopping Malls, 5 Star restaurants and more.
At the beginning, it made absolutely no sense, and since then, I’ve understood it, incorporated discipline and consistency, practised smart/hard, acquired a repertoire, scales, arpeggios and so on.
After learning by ear this particular piece at around 8 years old, I completely forgot over time, and what got me back involved with piano, at 12 Years old, was listening to Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement, and that particular night, that I meticulously examined and analysed the synthesiser closely and slowed to attempt and persevere to get the notes, was the real, authentic initiation of my journey.
At the beginning, it made absolutely no sense, and since then, I’ve understood it, incorporated discipline and consistency, practised smart and hard, acquired a repertoire, scales, arpeggios and so much more.
Even at the start of learning anything in life, really, like how to manage a new social media platform or even a really easy piano piece such as Erik Satie Gymnopedie N. 1, it’s all confusing and obfuscatory at the start. Then over time you get used to it and it makes more sense.
I wish everyone love, peace, and self-improvement and belief, because we all have the potential to be great and achieve greatness and do the things we love… You just have to want it bad enough, at least to work for it, and go beyond just acknowledging the hard effort required to achieve that hierarchical Echelon of power. If you Believe, you're already half way there.
Thanks for reading up to here - I would also love to embrace this mindset/belief I have adopted, which is quality over quantity:
Rather practising for 6 hours, or even 2 + daily practise hours, I found myself having greater overall occupational results / prosperity by practising for only 30 minutes per day. It kept/keeps me motivated, I don't burn out or lose passion for the work.
