It's people like this who make this a respectable instrument and not just a funny novelty act.

I know this guy has more talent in his pinky than I do in my whole body, but when people old out long notes that are out of tune without even trying to tune it, it can really ruin a piece.

Excellent effort. I will attempt this piece on my saw one day too. The reason the vibrato is so strong is due to the nature of the instrument. The low notes are especially difficult to hear unless you have enough vibrato. You played well.

Thanks for your compliments. It was many years ago. You can here this new version of Moonlight sonata recorded last December for the album "Adagios from the Underground". There you can find more songs that the saw plays on a low octaves. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--hyUrIsvo1I.html

Amazing. I listened to your old version and your new version. I totally disagree with everyone who said too much vibrato-- i think the vibrato really adds something to the song-- some people just can't adapt to a new interpretation. I am impressed by how over the years you have learned to tame the bow scraping on the new version-- i still have not learned how to prevent the scraping sounds. I play along with this on my saw by ear and really enjoy it! bubt if i have to choose, i think the first version is more interesting, and better than any version i have heard with a solo piano. screw the hecklers!!!

Hi Pete. You are right. The vibrato is something you earn with the experience of the years you play. You have to balance your expressiveness with the style of each piece of music you play. Also your vibrato must be different and not automated. And you should be able to play phrases without vibrato. If you put all this together then you have a right expression when you play a musical saw. People can say whatever they want to public comments but the journey will start when a real player try to play the same song and feel the harmony of his saw. After we can discuss..😁 Bravo that you chhose this music piece for your study. Keep going!!

@@ngioussef Thanks! What did you do to get control of the bow scraping sounds? I have been teaching myself, so I don't really know. often it makes a scraping sound, sometimes not, and i cant figure out what i am doing differently..

That thing sounds utterly gorgeous, like it should be a frequently used classical instrument for sheer gorgeousness of sound... but it's a --saw--. Like... those 2 things seem mutually incompatible

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." "How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

get rid of the piano. takes too much off the main act, especially because she plays well.

@cinephilefromhell , this small excerpt from "Alice in Wonderland" was addressed to the pianist, who happens to be very closely related to this masterpiece of literature, and who happens to be an old friend that i haven't seen for long. to tell you the truth, i suspect that something is wrong with the universe, cats are disappearing behind the moon.

It produces a sort of phantasmagorical sound which, in my opinion, is more suitable for a scary movie than for a Beethoven's sonata.

Beautiful duet music, however, just a bit heavy handed on the saw's vibrato.

i think it is. people do vibrato by shaking with one leg usually. this guy seems like doing it just with the hand.
