this is one of the most relaxing songs i know, nice for meditation, or just some relaxing after a long day. i think it's Performed by the London Festival Orchestra with Sylvia Capova (she plays piano..?)
Perfect. When you die, If there is a heaven, this is the soundtrack as you walk through the pearly gates and see all your loved ones again. Absolutely beautiful.
Well it is wonderful, isn't it? But I would suggest Eric Korngold's violin concerto mvt. 2 with Pearlman playing might be better? Beethoven was a genius and the musical world could not have achieved what it did without him. However, listen to Korngold and tell me he was not also a genius. i beg to differ.................Mozarts Piano Concerto in D Minor Considering Beethoven was a student of Mozart......this is worth the listen and you will hear similarities
There are many performances of this beautiful piece. I strongly suggest you explore them. One, just one, will make your soul truly thrum with glory and delight..
I remember waaay back when I was a college freshman, studying for a chemistry exam (?), and I had the radio on a classical station when this mvt came up....At most a minuet later all idea of study was GONE. All I could do was listen. I'll never forget that moment. It's been about 50 years.
@@amerrylittlemonarch I rank the opening piano play, as simple as the chords are, perhaps the most beautiful sound as any I have ever heard in my long life of listening to the classics. Beethoven's compositions will live as long as men (and women) are on earth. This particular piece is my favorite. It should be an inspiration to all who love great music.
Hi Carl-so sorry to read your comment. Your country is great Sir-well that’s what my husband and I think for what it’s worth. The past is the past. We all have the same blood running through our veins.
Music like this reminds of the true genius of this world past and present. When setting aside the stupidity of humanity, many things we have done and created are truly beautiful

What I love the most about Beethoven’s music is no matter how dark it may get, and no matter how much struggle it may have, there is always the fighting spirit and strength that leads to the light and the joy it brings to you moves you to tears.
For my special friend who died yesterday. A few months ago, he gave me this music and added : "Listen ! For sure, you'll love it". I do miss him. This music is for him. Rest in peace.
This is my favorite piece of music ever. I can not explain the beauty in this. It's tragedy, hope and peace all in one. And I still have not given it justice.
Yes, my favourite piece of music also. The first time I heard it I was screaming silently into my pillow during a spell of severe clinical depression unable to feel any emotion at all, only pain, not able to walk, talk, eat or do anything except listen to the radio. This beautiful music came to me over the airwaves, and it made me cry, and in so doing it kick-started my recovery. I will always love it.
you do so by listening to his incredible bjoetifool stuff, no..?? but in fact, I wish the same, and would even like to have a coffee with him.., indeed, to thank him for what he offered us........it is beyond everything else I know.
How can someone not be moved to tears listening to this piece? Music that brings tears not of pain, but tears that soothe and calm the suffering soul with infinite and unconditional love, embracing one with such beauty and intentness and with such loving power that one forgets one's self.
+Sarah Lynn Thank you for your kind words. I know there are many people like you out there who can feel the music in their hearts and emerge transformed. Indeed, it was Beethoven who once said "those who understand my music must be freed by it from all the miseries which the others drag about with themselves."
Andrew Francisco you’re right in so many ways Jesus is LORD indeed. No question if or buts about it. If God can use a donkey to convey his message. He can certainly use a human being to inspire another person to think act and aspire to achieve goals higher than the stays quo. I encourage you to be gracious patient and kind. God has given us many gifts the greatest if which is Jesus.

This music is so beautiful that it brought me to tears. I could feel Beethoven's hope during times of loneliness expressed in every note of the piano. For I, too, have felt such loneliness.
This is my all.time favourite piece of music ever . This music moves the soul . I listen to regularly at least 4 times a week . What a bloody genius Beethoven was. My favourite composer . What a genius he was . This music moves me to tears 😢😍
I agree. It just burns through the soul completely and cannot be beaten, although I really like Prokofiev Concerto 2 mov 1 when it almost reaches the end of the first movement and the cadenza kicks in. It's brilliant and so strong. The section your referring to is the most beautiful, and could possibly be the greatest 30 seconds in music history. Although other 30 seconds of music, such as variation 18 of Rachmaninoff/Paganini rhapsody on a theme hits me harder with emotion than this and variation 11 of liszt/paganini etude 6 is beyond the definition of epic, this just is simply the best.
I love this music so badly I can even describe it. No music even my favorites of all time compare to this. This is the absolute essence of my soul and for the ones who believe I can even imagine that came from a different life time of mine because it touches me so much in ways that I can't use words for you to understand. That's the music I wish was playing my entire life, that's the music I wish someone was playing while I was born, I wish was playing in the birth of my sons and even when on the last minutes of my cerebral activity, just after I died, I wish it was the one soundtrack for all my life to pass me by my eyes That's how much I adore this music
The adagio of the Emperor is not only relaxing. It is BEAUTIFUL. I cry always, at the very second note of the piano. I told my daughter I want it played in my funeral.
You talk about him, you remember him. He's alive, you wrote this comment 5 years ago, but after 5 years i read your comment, and you introduced your father to me in the best way. So he's there, he's alive.
We played this when my mom was burried on 8 Jan this year..she loved Beethoven so...still cry when I listen to it...but somehow it also brings peace of mind.
@@karmallama4686 Mozart was a genius, it is undeniable. His piano concertos and sonatas are incredibly well structured. Beethoven followed a more classic strucure in some concertos but knew perfectly how to bring back the same melody in different forms. I cannot say who is a better compositer but you cannot say that Mozart was far less talented than Beethoven. He created the perfect balance between the piano solo and the orchestra in a piano concerto which was causing trouble to compositers before him. Both are genius and both are to be respected.
Beethoven ist der genialste deutsche Komponist, den es jemals gegeben hat! In seinem gesundheitlichen Schicksal ist er über sich hinausgewachsen! Er hat uns so viel schöne Musik geschenkt, die wir pflegen müssen!!
The majority of time when I read comments on different genres of music, be it Rock, Metal, Rap, whatever, there are at least a handful of nasty, hateful comments. When I read the comments on classical music, they make me feel loved. Thank you kind souls.
Yes because the rest are not music... They are noise! Metal can only produce metalic noisy sounds... Rap is also noise from human beings talking abnormally.... Rock can also only make rocky sounds... Classical music is living!
I always put myself into bed with this piece at nights to help me relax and sleep. It sounds like 'a mixture of love, peace and nature' to me. I'm transported to places I could never imagine they exist.
"No friend have I. I must live by myself alone; but I know well that God is nearer to me than others in my art, so I will walk fearlessly with Him." -Beethoven
Beethoven's problem was...it wasn't "God" or whatsoever walking with him. It was his own inconceivable mental and emotional chaos torturing him, due to the miserable childhood his abusing father gave him. Beethoven was a troubled, unloved, embittered soul seeking for redemption through music. That, he probably achieved post mortem.
+Ander de la Fuente That's an interesting way of saying it, I was thinking the same thing in different words. This music prevents me from giving up on humanity, if we are capable of creating such beauty, there might be hope for us yet.
+Ander de la Fuente Yes I get frustrated with small words used to describe genius art like "relaxing." There is so much depth, infinite love, and beauty in this piece, words really cannot describe it. It's like the moment when unconditional love meets unconditional love in the most perfect way, when you realize that this person you are holding is the only thing that has ever mattered, and now at the point of realizing this profundity you must say goodbye...and you have one last dance, a fragment in time that will remain eternal in the two beloved hearts forever...that sacred moment glows brilliant white light. Not "relaxing" :)
+Christopher Sharp Haha, actually... Beethoven wrote the Emperor concerto while being attacked by Napolean's army. He had to hide in a basement and composed this masterpiece under such scary circumstances, which is really remarkable when you think about it. His hearing was deteriorating and those canons weren't doing him any favours, so he was frightened that he would be completely deaf at the end of the siege. Something remarkable also happened to Beethoven that he obviously had in mind while composing the second movement... true love, yay! His 'Immortal Beloved' showed up in his life around this time, and you can hear the love in this music from it. :) Sooo Romanitc!!!
+Christopher Sharp While I get what you're saying and agree that a masterpiece like this is beyond words, you cannot disregard the fact that the act of listening to this music may physically relax the muscles in certain people. Perhaps try not to lose sight of the literal implications when an adjective like this is used to describe music. Nothing to get frustrated over. For me, very "relaxing" ;)
me too although luckily I had heard it b4 as both parents prof violinist and pianist...I just asked mum what piece it was and just so proud my parents could actually play this.
How can you not have a lump in your throat while listening to this piece ,which just sounds out of this world , especially when any fun memory with your late mom or dad or loved ones takes you back to the good old days with them ? My dad too passed away in peace earlier this year. It's seriously pulling at my heartstrings.😭 It must be sincerity. His pieces that I've listened to so far are all about it.
This helps with my anxiety at work especially. When you are in a vunerable situtation this will snap you right out of it. When you think everything is falling apart this will help relax you.
Gentle, peaceful, powerful and sublime all in one . Always touches and uplifts the heart. Tears of immence joy swells up inside and overflows giving hope and inner calmness at the same time. A masterpiece. Thank you Master Beethoven and Thank you God for permiting us to hear such wonder.
Thank you for saying it all . For me , Beethoven is the only composer who can compose a piece that is peaceful , delightful yet full of passion and powerful .
I've read that some who have had an NDE... Say the music in the next life is even more beautiful. It's hard to imagine it to be more beautiful than this piece. But if it is, just imagine someday when we meet those great composers
This is quite possibly the most romantic piece ever written. I just love it... it’s relaxing and serene and the depth gently squeezes my heart and massages my brain. Le sigh.
No other piece had made me cry this fast, just one and a half minutes in and I already had tears running down my face. This is one of the most beautiful adagios I've ever heard in my life. Absolutely magnificent
+Ricardo Lourizela It's like those notes are floating through every part of my body. It is such an amazing feeling. i love this part. First of all the first few notes..so simple yet so moving.
The adagio is the melody which fades in and out throughout the atmospheric 70s Australian movie 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'. The piano sequence is definitely a really haunting piece of music.
I think the most beautiful part is toward the end...the rhythm, the instruments, everything...feel like a soul actually breathing. I’ve never heard anything so deep and intimate. I also love the way this is done with Christoph Eschenbach & Lang Lang.
My introduction to this beauty was only six years ago, but I'm certain I will carry it in my heart for the rest of my life. This piece takes me to a place I can only imagine Nirvana to be. I get lost in an emotional grasp, and don't ever want to be found. My soul takes a journey through love, light, passion and refuge. For my Immortal Beloved.....
Relaxing here on the beach in sunny Jamaica listening to such tranquil music and sounds. It has brought back beautiful memories of my beloved husband. My eyes are filled of tears but happy ones... such beautiful music.
One of the most beautiful and soulful pieces of music I know of. It is the manifestation of love. An esoteric and ethereal concept of life itself. Quiet moving peaceful and replete with deep tones of sadness. As a dying patient of mine said. It is heavenly and divine.
My all time favourite piece of music . Makes my heart beat faster n makes your hair stand on end . It has grace beauty and gets into your soul . It's the most stunning piece of music every written . It's to be played at my funeral 😀
Oh my God, can anything possibly be this serene and wondrously beautiful. Beethoven you were truly beyond angelic, beyond heaven with this. I am so moved and in tears.
Gracias Beetho!!!!
EINVERSTANDEN :-)...auf einem Level mit dem 2. Satz aus Mozart´s Klarinettenkonzert...pure Schönheit...beide Sätze vermitteln mir immer wieder eine innere Ruhe in hektischen Zeiten !!!
When I was about 9 I was given a cassette of the piano concerto 5 and upon hearing this I was transported. From that moment forward all music would be measured by the piece.
There are not words for my love of this piece of music.......I have had the privilege of standing at Beethoven's grave to pay my respects. I always brought roses but I wished I could buy a garden of roses for music that beautiful. I am not the only one that showers roses on his grave to this day! what Tor-Andre Kongelf (below) said and more...
The difference between Beethoven and Mozart is that while Mozart helped you hear the complexities of music, Beethoven helped you FEEL them. Beethoven was able to construct melody upon melody and build themes unlike Mozart was able to. Mozart had some of the most developed and ingenious pieces ever put to writing, however Beethoven’s thematic prowess is unmatched. In my humble opinion, Ludwig van Beethoven was and always will be the single greatest musical mind that ever walked the Earth.
