"Sonata quasi una fantasia" muy cerca del corazón de Beethoven, una de sus favoritas y una de las mas hermosas e injustamente ignorada en favor de su gemela, la Sonata Op. 27, nº 2, mal llamada Claro de Luna que nunca llamó así el propio Beethoven.

My very first year of college and I would be working a tall, "slightly elderly" gentleman who I still did not know well and he assigned me to learn this entire work. I don't think he was all that surprised (as I was also working on other works by Bach and others) but I memorized the entire work and at the end of the year I played the entire work from memory --just slower in the fast sections then this guy can! ---I forgot to mention that was in 1968-69.

There are several recordings of this man playing this sonata, and this is the best, his second movement was slower and brilliantly executed, over the years he has got closer to Brendel’s tempi, seemingly they are in agreement
