In this sonata, Polina moves me more than Beethoven. In other words, without Polina this sonata is not the one I appreciate the most in Beethoven. Polina magic? Without a doubt. Anyway thank you, thank you Polina and Maxim.
That's because Maxim makes room for her. Most violinists--and that includes many of the "greats"--fail to make it a duet. After all, LVB was a pianist. He did not write these so he could disappear in performances!
Powerful, sensitive and captivating...a bravura performance by both in perfect harmony! An absolute joy to experience. Polina you never fail to surprise me with your virtuosityy and sheer excellence....you bring much light in these dark times, for which I am eternally grateful, and I know many will share my sentiments ! Bravo ! 🙏
Grande magnifica interpretazione di due Artisti meravigliosi. Accenti e fraseggio infallibili, poetica beethoveniana splendidamente evidenziata. Polina grandiosa come sempre.
They reveal the splendours of this work in a manner so rare that those happy enough to hear them will never know what a great work it is. This is a partnership for such as Beethoven wrote, and he would hardly ever heard realised. Polina has been one of my all time heroines since I heard her first and Vengerov would be a hero except I only have hereoines. People always think of Beethoven for his symphonies and concerti but the real man is best discovered in his chamber works. Although this work was first performed by Beethoven with Isaac Bridgetower he called it the Kreutzer because he quarrelled with Bridgetower but Kreutzer could not manage it, but these two can.
After listening to countless performances, this is the first one in which I feel I have truly heard Beethoven. Russian musicality must reach a higher, spiritual level where the great composers and performers such as Vengerov and Osetinskaya mystically meet and share the same inspiration, and via this-world technology we see and hear it happening.

Nice playing from both, however I feel they are both a little in their own worlds and not gelling quite as well as they could. The rhythm wanders a fair bit for both of them. Maxim should work on that pizzicato a bit.
Probably very expensive and comfortable. He may not be a fashionista but he is an amazing great violinist. At one point in time they probably practiced 12 hours a day. Grateful when the masters play together. Thank you both. 26:04
