The Royal Conservatoire The Hague has a long tradition of making audio recordings of music performed by students and teachers. The Art of Sound department is responsible for these recordings, in which the creation of the recordings is a learning process for everyone involved. The educational aspect is leading and prepares the students for professional practice where they will make recordings or be recorded themselves. In addition to independent projects, the conservatoire provides projects supervised by professionals in which the recording team and musicians are coached or where a production is taking place in masterclass form.This Beethoven recording was made within the Art of Sound department and finalised with the assistance of (alumni) professionals. In 2023, the album was presented in a special edition of ten copies to Henk van der Meulen on the occasion of his retirement as director of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and now fully available to the audience through a release by Et’cetera Recordings.
