When mediocrity today is praised as good, it’s a sign that cinema has been dead for a decade. About half of the films made from the last decade to now that are praised would’ve been considered crap decades ago.
Alien Romulus springs to mind. It's being praised as the greatest sequel since Aliens. I saw it in the theatre and I don't know why it's so highly rated.
Charles Dietz (Jeffrey Jones) gets killed by a shark. That's totally a Beetlejuice thing. Also the guy who sang Day-O was Harry Belafonte. Dude lived a long life, he was almost 100 when he passed 🙏🏽
Originally Beetlejuice was going to be a lot darker. Michael McDowell's version was absolutely chilling!! It had characters such as Swallow Tail and Cathy Deetz. As well as Lydia's mother Evelyn.
The same shit is going to happen with Mufasa or live action Lilo and Stitch some idiots will go and see it because they are blinded by nostalgia or are fake ass fans. This crap is never going to end until people grow more brain cells As for Beatle juice I never saw the original so I don't care for the franchise the trailer for this film looked god awful enough for me to avoid. Sonic 3 will be a success and then they'll keep making movies despite the first two films being mediocre sorry guys but it's true same with SpongeBob same with Alien Chucky Top Gun Minecraft ect absolutely Zero Creativity Skibidi Toilet being a movie being made by Michael Bay is proof of Hollywood not giving a crap about making real movies.
Love what you said at the 3:53 timestamp in the video, lol. Wonderful job on the rant. Definitely agree, they should have made Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian in the 90’s as Beetlejuice 2. I definitely think it’s too late to do a sequel now after 35 years of not doing one. Tim Burton definitely lost his touch and he made a lot of great movies like Batman 89’, Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, the first Beetlejuice etc. I love Micheal Keaton and Winona Ryder (I hope they did get paid a lot of money for this, lol), but they are clearly too old for this. Again, totally agree with you said on this rant (although I did like Bad Boys 4 and I still would like to see Beverly Hills Cop 4 and Deadpool & Wolverine, talking about the sequels of 2024).
“I’ll have to go with something stronger than water, so i’ll have ice tea” Every alcoholic saying “Wussy!” 😂😉👍 Fans really have no say what goes on in Hollywood as soon as we give them our money, they can do anything with it.. It’s like the fans are the enablers. This movie could’ve easily copied Hannibal… with Lydia being the “Clarice”… 😆
Its a movie I watched once and will never watch again. I'd give it maybe a 5 outta 10. It felt bloated. It has so many sub plots going on all at once, it can't concentrate on just one of them. Monica Bellucci in particular was wasted. The movie introduces uer as this big threat, only for her to be entirely forgotten until the finale. Michael Keaton, some of the special effects, Danny Devito cameo as basically the ghost of Penguin, I liked all of that. So I didn't hate the film, and it's nowhere near the worst of the year. Which is sad, if you think about it.
Awesome epic rant review of Beetlejuice 2. Fabio. I would rather rewatch the animated series & Little Nicky, as sequels to the original, then go watch this.
apparently this cost 99 mil sure didn't look it on the screen, the Original is way bigger scale wise. The film felt rushed and didn't know what it wanted to be, every plot point was a sub plot
The next thing you know, they could make a remake to Back to the Future. LOL! That would officially be where real cinema dies. And BTW, the guy who sung Day-o that was in the original and the funeral scenes of Jeffrey Eps- I mean Jeffrey Jones' character was the late great Harry Belafonte. Can’t believe you didn’t know that. He made some gems back in his day. Unfortunately he passed on last year, but it’s a great song by a great singer. But, we can’t know everything. But great rant so far, Fob. This made me not want to see this movie and the Joker sequel with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn (🤦🏾♂Yes, seriously) in the theater. But I'll go see Matt Walsh's documentary Am I Racist with my Ma when she comes back home from out of town tomorrow.
No need to worry about the Back to the Future getting remade. Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis put it on their contract that the movie cannot be remade or get sequels after Part III until many years after they pass away (which is awesome; I wish more franchise creators would do the same thing).
Every RU-vid video that has MacArthur Park uploaded has Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in the comment section now all of a sudden MacArthur Park is everyone who liked this movie loves the song when it has been around since 1968 & I know you would be just fine if you didn’t hear that song anymore
You know, 'Beetlejuice' was one of a few films that I hoped would never have its legacy ruined by an unnecessary sequel especially one made several decades too late. 'The Godfather Part 3' usually comes to mind when I think of film sequels that were made too late. For years Tim Burton and Michael Keaton appeared to have no interest in doing another Beetlejuice film. What I didn't know is that a script for a film called 'Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian' was written several decades ago but thankfully never saw the light of day. In fact, Tim said he intentionally wrote it to be so bad no one would want to make it. That was his way of ensuring the 1988 classic 'Beetlejuice' would remain as a standalone masterpiece. A single self-contained story that had a beginning and an end. Well, I guess age does not always make people wiser. For some reason, 36 years later Tim Burton and Michael Keaton decided they needed to change their minds about not doing a Beetlejuice sequel. Maybe it was because they realized they aren't getting any younger and it was best to bring back Beetlejuice while they were both still alive to be a part of it. And so, the unthinkable happened, 'Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice' got made and released on 9/6/24. The classic 1988 original was suddenly no longer a perfect single self-contained story. As I feared, 'Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice' turned out to be more of a reboot than a sequel. It brought back the key cast members who obviously aged a lot and that was clear from the moment they first appeared on screen. None of them were the same people they were 36 years ago. Michael Keaton looked tired, his voice sounded weak and broken. He lacked the energy and quick thinking required to give Beetlejuice the zany performance the character is known for. Seeing him doing his best to be that energetic character at 73 was very sad. The same goes for Winona Ryder who at 52 looked very much like a victim of father time. In scenes with her and Catherine O'Hara it was difficult to tell which one of them was older. The excitement for 'Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice' did not go beyond opening weekend despite the aggressive marketing campaign that hyped this movie. We now know it did not live up to said hype. It's probably going to end up on the MAX streaming service before Halloween well on its way to becoming forgettable content.
I have no interest in seeing "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice". When I saw the teaser back in Spring when I was out of town seeing "Ghostbuster: Frozen Empire" (one of the final films I saw at Showplace ICON months before the place got closed down), I was... not impress because why did we need a sequel to Beetlejuice? It's already too late for one and there's no point.
Didn't bother watch this one after Warner Brahs fucked over Keaton with the Flash. Also I heard Lydia doesn't get a good send off so why bother bringing her back if her entitled brat daughter causes this and gets *NO* comeuppance for it?!?!? Thank you for the sacrifice my dude! PS.. they *ACTUALLY* made a joke about someone getting killed in a stunt?!?!
Thank you for speaking Truth/Facts Fabio😊 Was disappointing. I wont be buying it, im good with just the original. Even cartoon series was more entertaining than this😊
You guys are definitely in the minority considering how much the new Beetlejuice is making and how much repeat business it is obviously getting. Rant away for whatever good you think its going to do and if it helps you sleep at night. More are enjoying the movie than not enjoying. Happy ranting.
