Even though a lot of people including myself want a beetlejuice 2, i feel it's one of those movies where, even if we don't get a sequel, it is that good that we don't even need one
To the credit of the writers who were working on one, they were definitely trying to go in a wild different direction with it, instead of repeating the old setup.
Oh, not unlike our un-dead protagonist, Hollywood never lets ANYTHING rest in peace, even if it was the most perfect self-contained masterpiece that God, Himself, created, they'll find a way to drudge it up from the grave, dust it off, and then toss it out on the streets to go make some money. I wouldn't doubt they're scheming up ways as we speak to chop up and fk up this movie to re-release it as a re-boot, a sequel, a prequal, limited series, or hell, even a bio-pic or super hero franchise! They MUST squeeze every ounce of money, mystery and wonder they can from every story that has ever been told so that even Dracula is like, "now just wait a minute!" This is one of the Laws of the Universe. 🙄🙄🙄🙄😑😑
@@jermainebrown8251 it's just so dumb. i get "do what worked, do it again" but.. what worked was _making a brand new original thing that is nothing like anything else._
Crazy how Michael Keaton went from playing Beetlejuice to Batman about a year or so later two very different characters yet Keaton killed it playing both. Both movies are Burton masterpieces with phenomenal acting and amazing Elfman soundtracks.
Thankfully Beetlejuice became the huge hit it is now, because Warner Bros. didn’t want to give Batman the green-light until they saw how Beetlejuice did at the box office. Had this film flopped we would’ve never seen Michael Keaton as Batman!
The first guy to make that rhyme must have felt incredibly clever, then increasingly annoyed as it became a tired cliche. i mean it can't have been that long ago, 'the most' started as 50s teen slang, yeah?
If some of you find that this song is similar to the main theme song from "Tales from the Crypt", then that's for a very good reason: Danny Elfman composed both of these!
Watched this movie like 50 times growing up. Each time this part came on my brother (extremely serious and intense) pulled out a chair to stand on and pretend conducted the orchestra like it was no f’n joke.
Can you imagine if Michael Keaton wasn't Beetlejuice? It would have been awful. Tim Burton orginally wanted Sammy Davis Jr. Can you imagine? Michael Keaton IS Beetlejuice. He created that character thru and thru, and not for nothing, he was a great BATMAN.
Michael Keaton would have made a kickass Joker. But then he'd essentially have been playing the same character. Beetlejuice is basically a supernatural Joker. He wreaks havoc for the lulz.
Yes, I remember reading somewhere how originally Beetlejuice was a lot darker and was a straight horror movie and they ended up doing a bunch of re-writes on the film until they came up with what we now know of as today Beetlejuice... and thank God, because I love Beetlejuice, its still one of my favorite movies, that along with Edward Scissorhands and its just coincidence that they both happen to be Tim Burton movies..
@@functionatthejunctiondude even a blind man can read through the context. *That line + Fact BJ has to marry a living human to come back to life, make very clear implications
Lots of trailers from the 90’s and 2000’s always used this theme when conveying said tone for their horror comedies and supernatural comedies at the time. Heck when The Mask was being worked on, the workprint used music from Beetlejuice to show the studio what type of film they wanted especially to composer Randy Edelman.
I honestly have no idea how people can dislike this theme. It's easily one of Elfman's top 3 that he's done in one of Burton's all time best films. Some people..baffle me.
@@JaySeraphon The wait is over. In the 36 years since the first one, Beetlejuice watched again The Exorcist another 167 times, and it kept getting even more funny than the last batch. Not to mention that the we were still discussing the same dead guy for 36 years. And, the juice is loose at long last. Did we think Beetlejuice is still qualified after 36 years? Yep. Nice f-(censored) YT channel! [HONK HONK]
I loved it when they played this theme as the Beetlejuice show was starting at universal Florida :( what a shame they got rid of it for a fast and furious ride.
A few years ago, my school offered a Thorpe park trip to students who went a year without detentions. Because it was a normal school day, there was barely anyone at the theme park. One of the smaller rides has this as the music while you ride it, and because there was no lines, me and my mates just stayed on for ages. That's a great memory that's triggered every time I hear this piece.
This might my favorite theme from Danny Elfman. From the whimsical melody, than the horns foreshadowing the terror of Beetlejuice, and the choir moaning at the sight of his name. Than the rest of it is a combination of dark, quirky, and a thrill like being on a rollercoaster through the afterlife it's wonderful
I found out that in original storyboards, the spider we see climbing over the Maitland's model house at the start of the film was meant to be let loose on the model during the opening credits. This theme would have went perfectly for that, as the spider runs along the roads and over the houses.
I Saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice a Few Weeks Ago At The Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas It Was Awesome And Watched The Old School Beetlejuice Cartoon on TUBI In a Loop also It Just Brings out That Nostalgia Factor To it.
This is definitely one of my top five favorite movies of all time, and this is THE best movie theme to date, IMO! I just bought tickets to see the Broadway show on the Labour Day weekend, I'm so excited!
How was it? I saw it and it was one of the most amazing live experiences I've ever had the honor to witness. Also, Leslie Kritzer is so freakin underrated
This is the best composition I have ever heard in my life. I can listen to this over and over and never get tired of it. I agree with museisallmylife, the man is a genius!!!
I literally just come here for the first 30 seconds, it's freaking amazing. I wish there was a whole song with that creepy curious beginning. I'm absolutely in love with it lol
Can't stop listening to this theme after seeing Beetlejuice 2. Burton always had some of the best intros (something I SO miss in modern movies). Sleepy Hollow still being a favorite of mine...
Have you all noticed how orchestras ENJOY with a true sparkling smile playing Danny Elfan scores? Man he is a true legend of cinema's ost. My dark side is compossed by Him! Xxx
Who else's high school concert band did an Elfman medley that was so difficult it made them feel like their eyes were bleeding just looking at the page? Just me? 'Kay. Absolutely love the man's compositions (Black Beauty '94 is criminally underrated) but lord is it hard to play.
