What she said is 100% to the T. I've been a medical assistant since 2004 and like she said everything you learn in school will be applied to the field. I mean everything from answering the phones to drawing blood, the base knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and all of it is crucial to becoming an efficient assistant to the doctor, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or whoever you are assisting. I'm no longer in the field as of 2020 when covid hit and since then I've started paralegal school which I love. I want to get into advocacy so I felt something in the law or politics would help me have some knowledge of what's going on. Good luck on all yall endeavors and just one last thing. all of us old and seasoned MA will be retiring, getting out of the field, or whatever the case may be so the MA profession will be in high demand meaning higher pay so yall get ready. to my young folks. if you can or if it's within your means go ahead and continue your education and gain more skills right now while you are young. I promise you it will pay off. don't worry about all the partying and stuff like that. all that can wait but your experience, knowledge, and skills are what going to constitute that bank account, status, and much much more so go ahead and take on that mountain all of us had in front of us at one point and climb that mountain and have a good prosperous life. Much love from Texas.

Hi very nice video🎉 Is there a difference between the medical assistant diploma obtained at the community college and that obtained in an accelerated program???
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK 2 года назад
Hey, the diploma program is usually about nine months and the associate’s degree program is usually about 15 months to two years. If you go through the degree program, you will obtain credits that you can potentially take with you into a nursing program if that’s your goal. I’m going to be doing a video about this very soon

@@xxpeace7896 it depends on where you work but I imagine they make about the same. And I’m just answering based on my experience with my students. I love this video!! Being a Medical Assistant was never one of my wildest dreams or what I would ever be doing but after working at some many “customer service” / “hospitality” jobs. I thought being a Medical Assistant, is exactly what describes me. I love helping others, meeting new people, making people laugh/smile and make their day better. I am at Brookline College in Albuquerque, NM and my instructor is amazing! My hands on is so good that I initially didn’t want to Draw Blood, until I practiced and got my instructors support. She is amazing and I am 💯 impressed with myself bc I never thought I would ever be in the Medical field whatsoeverr! I thought I’d be an amazing Chef or have my own restaurant by now but nope. Medical Assistant was a call I never thought I would receive and be so happy with that my instructor is teaching us. I just wish my tribe would help more but I’m still grateful they gave me a scholarship. Stay blessed & stay beautiful Queen 👑🤍🩺

So sorry for my delayed response… I definitely think you should go straight ahead to medical assisting. CNA work is completely different from medical assisting as most CNA‘s work in nursing homes and hospitals. They do a lot of cleaning and lifting patients while medical assistants draw blood, give injections, assist the doctor, etc.

Hello, I’m currently taking an online course to get my Associates Degree in Medical Office Administration but also plan on attending Medical Assisting school in September. Do you think having both certifications will help me qualify for both roles in the Medical office ? I do know that MA’s also do administrative work and I do feel that I should’ve did the MA route instead of MOA.
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK 4 года назад
Alycia Branch Absolutely! Having both certifications will certainly set you apart from other Medical Assistants as well as other Medical Office Assistants. With a Medical Office Administration degree I believe you can even obtain managerial positions. The great thing about that is if you do, you’ll be able to be an even better manager than most because one thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of office managers only have office/business experience and no clinical which can be limiting to any medical facility. But when you have BOTH, you’re an invaluable asset :)

Medical Assisting & CPR with Ms K Thank you for responding back to me ! I was going to go the MA route first through an online program but then being an MOA caught my eye as well so I was like “why not do both ?” Haha. I’ve spent so much time looking into MA programs that I don’t really trust some of the programs that are online, especially if they do not provide any clinicals or externships which were sketchy to me. Thankfully I found a program close to home where I’ll be get to actually do hands on training.

I have a question for you. I am currently doing a duo program online CMA/Certified Medical Administrative Assistant. Since I am doing it 100% online, will this be detrimental for me to gain the full set of skills that I need, as opposed to doing an in-person training? I come from an EMT background with years of experience on the ambulance as well as working in the ER. I just want to be the absolute best that I can be. This is more than a career for me, it is my purpose. Caring for people is what I was born to do.

“This is more than a career for me, it is my purpose. Caring for people is what I was born to do.” I LOVE this ❤️ The CMAA is fine being 100% virtual because it’s all administrative training. But I don’t see how it will work out with the CMA being 100% virtual. Ask them how you all will be getting your hands on training. There has to be some hands-on training to become a clinical medical assistant. There’s no way. Keep me posted after you ask.

Also, if you happen to get any refund checks from your loans, don’t keep them. Send it back. That’s the mistake many people make. They get that check and get happy. Thank you for this info,I was the exact same way in school I wasn’t good in middle or high school and never got straight A’s,I was going to college for a business and management degree but dropped out because I was bored and college is not for everybody and it wasn’t for me,and why should I waste so many yrs in school again for long periods of time and when I come out I probably won’t even be in the field that my degree require,so I been seeing ads like this or pharmacy tech etc so doing this I know you don’t have to deal with math really at all because I’m terrible at it so I think this might be good for me,the two good certificates are Certified medical assistant & registered medical assistant right?
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK 2 года назад
Yes and the 3rd is Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). And I understand what you’re saying. You have to do what’s best for you. College is not for everybody. I know many successful people who didn’t go to college. I’m pretty sure you will do very well in school for medical assisting because you will be learning exactly what you will need to know and school is not that long, no more than eight months to one year

I am a PCt which is a cna and I’m going back January 2022 to get certified for a CMA but a lot of people are telling me that CNA’s and medical assistant do about the same thing is that true it is about the same pay
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK 2 года назад
Not at all… we do not do the same things as a CNA. It’s two completely different trainings. CNA’s are trained to care for the patient in an inpatient setting (hospitals, nursing homes, in home, etc). MAs are trained to assist the doctor in caring for the patient (vital signs, blood draws, EKG, injections, assisting with minor procedures, etc.) Think about everything you do now as a CNA. Taking vital signs is possibly the only thing you’ll also do as a Medical Assistant. We don’t lift patients, change, or bathe them. Are these things you do as a PCT? As far as the pay being the same… depending on what state they’re in, where they work, and their experience, it’s possible that a CNA could earn the same as an MA. But in general, MAs earn higher salaries than CNAs. So if it’s something you really want to do, go for it 💪🏾 It’s a completely different job and not as physically demanding on your body. I hope this helps :)

Hello I am a first-time viewer of your video. I went through a Medical Assistant program for about 4yrs. ago. I failed the exam twice by 2 points. I was very discouraged and decided to try to take other classes(which didn't work out). Long story short, I finally decided to retake the exam to get my MA. I was looking for something to prepare me to retake the exam and I came across your video. After watching this video, I am encouraged to go back and get my certification. Also, the phlebotomy information was helpful. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video.

Is it suspicious that I am having a zoom interview tomorrow for this position (specifically Medical Staffing Coordinator), and I haven’t had any medical school, only 2.5 years in customer service and some college with no degree? I’m worried that they are wanting to hire me when I have no qualifications besides working with people. The job description claims medical school graduate for medical assistants (BLS/CMA) is preferred but not required. I’m glad to have a new opportunity, and I did apply to this job, but it seems weird to me since I expected nothing to come out of it.

You said that you learn on each other and that includes drawing blood but is this mandatory for every student? What if a student doesn't want to have their blood drawn or doesn't want to receive injections? Is it optional/voluntary? I wouldn't feel comfortable in that situation so I was wondering if every single student has to do it. Thanks!
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK Год назад
Hi, this depends on the school you’re enrolled in, but in every school I’ve worked, yes it was mandatory because you have to learn. I do get students who are afraid of needles and by the time the program ends, they are used to getting stuck and are fine. When I was in school, I was afraid of needles and by the time I was finished, I was no longer as afraid because if I could let the students stick me I definitely could let a professional stick me lol… Again, this depends on where you go so you would have to ask your school.

Hey! Yes, they can be learned on the job. Some people only practice on the dummy and it’s not until externship that they learn. And then for people who do not get an externship, they would need on the job training. If your class was phlebotomy only and not medical assisting, you wouldn’t be doing injections, though.

Hi everyone what is the deff between the ccma and the RMA
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK
@MedicalAssistingwithMsK Год назад
The CCMA focuses more on the clinical aspect, although it does have some administrative questions as well. The RMA is the registered medical assistant certification and it’s broader. They are given through different certifying agencies. The CCMA tends to be easier for most ppl. That’s the gist of the differences, but here is a video that really goes into detail about it if you want more information: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NJ_1A-HxIr0.html

Hi, sorry I'm just seeing this! So CNA is closely related to what nurses do in the hospital regarding caring for the patient. And CMA is more related to what nurses do as far as taking vital signs, giving injections, drawing blood, EKG, and assisting the physician. It generally costs more than becoming a CNA, but you will definitely gain a lot of nurse-related skills. We do a lot of what nurses do except we can't administer IVs, give certain meds, or advise the patient.
