He is an incompetent emperor. Ruyi suffered a lot because of her unconditional love for him. People around him died because of him and he never do anything to resolve it. He promised Ruyi to be always on each other side multiple times but he failed her as much as he promised her. Ruyi's action before she past away was awesome though! She cut all the memories with him🤣 and ofcourse his typical reaction was predictable!

Everything bad that happened was all because of the Emperor. Ruyi was the one who suffered the most. I cried almost all the time watching this show.

Like what I care about the most here is to see how heart-wrenching it is as Ruyi's trying to reach out to his deceased boy despite held back from it and bombarded with accusations by her own husband. He even has the audacity to talk about taking away her empress certificate while he knows for sure albeit being helplessly denial, that she won't give a goddamn shit about it and their miserable marriage. I really hate his guts

I loved how badass ruyi is just ignore trash emperor look at her son fling his hand off and left without saying a word or looking back like she doesn't expected anything from him like he doesn't exist and avenge her son practically by herself she knows he worthless

Context: Ling Yueche is the former guard, who got framed and later turned into a eunuch as a punishment from the Emperor due to baseless jealousy and rumors that the Queen and the guard have feelings for each other. He was caught, tortured, emasculated, and sent back to the Queen to humiliate both of them. Afterwards he was still caught and tortured some more, while the Queen tried to find some way to prove their innocence. But Hailan (the grieving mother of the dead prince in this episode), who is the Queen's most loyal sister, knew that even with evidence it won't be enough to dissuade the Emperor. So she went to see Ling Yueche personally, they both agreed that in order to take away suspicions from the Emperor, Hailan will execute Ling Yueche under the orders of the Queen (even though she did not give such orders). Ling Yueche, her most devoted guard who had selflessly protected and loved her the most, willingly died for the Queen's sake. So the concubine here is framing the Queen by taking advantage of the dead prince, saying that the Queen also loved Ling Yueche and so is vengeful towards Hailan for killing the guard. My heart breaks when I see those scenes. I think this was based on a real historical person, if I'm not mistaken.

In this show the concubines are all fighting for position either for their sons to be the next emperor. This man was ruthless and should have kept the number of women at a minimum. They all plotted agaunst each other and people died for nothing. He is the cause of all the pain that happened. Its such a painful drama to watch i ended up watching only 38 episodes due to seeing the suffering ruyi went through. Being framed and he does absolutely nothing.
