This is really great, knowing what goes on behind the scenes with the athletes... As well as the commentators; like Josh Bridges who is now commentating for The Games.
+John Downes that is a very gullible comment fronting is absolutely on PEDs. Have a look at his college photo or even how much he's grown since his first xfit games when he came in second.
+Erwan Compes Did you watch the video? They train hard man, steroids or not. I think they might be on steroids but I don't think it's necessarily their fault... If you're preparing to write a huge, important test, and you know everyone else is going to cheat and have a distinct advantage over you, you're probably gonna want to cheat too. It's not impossible that they're natty, unlikely, but either way, their training volume and dedication is beyond admirable. They also motivate thousands of people to turn their lives around in terms of fitness. I respect them.
Can´t believe my eyes, the fittest sub 18 year old in the whole fucking world. You did so well at regionals man, next come back: stronger, faster, lighter and more hungry
Noooo, it wasn't the fact that the dude was gay, it was the fact that he was like, 'Daddy sent you', which made it weird. It could have been a 300lbs biker butch dude and it would have been just as fucking hilarious
I honestly feel like crossfit athletes have the greatest sense of humour. Maybe it's the sport. Maybe it's all these great "behind the scenes" videos where you get to know people. But they always seem so funny and alive. Also the hosts from the update show. And I'm not even native english speaker. Must be the sport.
I think it could have something to do with the sports! As if you look at the top strongman they are extremly supportive to each other.. if there are only 2 hands full of people worldwide with wich you really can push each other..💪
I thought of this recently myself and I think it’s cause they abuse there body so bad it’s like you gotta like the misery to endure it all and stay mentally sane.
Love the camaraderie between Rich and Matt. Matt is hilarious. Rich is the fittest in history because he puts in the work period! No shortcuts. Wishing all the athletes the best this week!
Was it just me or did anyone else find that Rich and James were being a little douchie towards Matt? ie "Do you even know what Murph is?" I'm all for banter but it seemed a little mean spirited. I guess I thought they'd be a little bit more supportive.
Jared Sale Darren Hunsucker was giving Rich constant shit during the Games when he was sitting 12th after the fail that was the sprint sled and triple 3, I'm pretty sure that's just how they all take jabs at each other. What you're seeing a Rich that dgaf about maintaining that image as the "face" of crossfit, hence swearing just as much as the rest of them and and overall just being a chill dude.
I agree, he has very pretty muscle ups. But he doesn't have a gymnastics background. He swam and played water polo. Should be interesting to see a one by one comparison of crossfitters doing bar muscle ups when they're not fatigued. I'm guessing many of them would look pretty good, some not so much (especially the taller, heavier athletes).
The majority of athletes who can do body weight exercises well can do bar muscles as effeciently. Don't generalize "Crossfitter" when you don't actually know anything.
All im saying is that majority of crossifitters dont do muscles ups as efficient or as clean as Noah. It was just an observation and it is because Noah Ohlsen did gymnastics when he was growing up therfore is a lot more efficient at controlling his body weight that someone who did not do gymnastics. This is a trend i see where crossfit is going. I think in the future the games etc will focus a little more on complex gymnastic movement.
Mike Cronan I told you before and I'll tell you again, he never did any gymnastics before crossfit. I agree that a gymnastics background can help heaps, but right now, I don't know of any male games level crossfitter who has one. It's different with the girls though. I'd guess about a third if not more of the top level female competitors have done gymnastics before crossfit, And they do really well at the gymnastics type events.
Would be fun to see what all those guys talk about the changes from this video (mentaly) from now. Fraser is way stronger and champion, Noah is bigger also, and Scott is now going to be "mayhem". Man that is a lot of changes. Please Dave, make this video mate!!!
I just wanna say that everything about the sport has gotten more methodical and I totally appreciate that as a participant. But I totally miss the rawness of this type of training style. Just ripping Metcon after Metcon after Metcon. And always competing with others through Instagram. It’s dope to watch.
A lot has happened in the last two years.....Team Mayhem led by Rich Fronning Jr. has won two straight Affiliate Crossfit Games. Matt Fraser is the Fittest on the Planet in 2016, after a loss the steady Ben Smith ....Panchik is still Scottie....tough as nails a larger Chris Speiler and Noah is Noah....all the raw talent in the world. And Daddy Dan Bailey still tries to get all his calories from Broccoli and is rehabbing an injury and will not be at the games...And Rich and Hillary Fronning have added another blessing to their family....God has Blessed you all...What's next for Crossfit? Dave Castro's not barbell Games?
Noah Ohlsen.... why do so many people dislike him? I'll admit that I'm not a fan of his, and I think it's because he still acts like a kid (ie, he seems immature when compared with other top Crossfitters).
I am so pumped for the games! This will be my second year of watching the games. Last year I was just learning the routes and how things goes. 2015! I am all in! Been watching these athletes all year on social media, videos, etc. It's time! New beginning!
Legendary moment in space when these two great history athletes came together. I know there's a lot of ego and proudness involve for the history pages. But these was great. The humbleness of Matt Fraser by this time. Very sweet!
The bottom line is you have to put in the work to get the results. You can't do "CrossFit" for 6 months and think you have a chance at making it to the Games. These athletes have been putting their sole effort into all of the things that make a CrossFit athlete for years and many of them don't even make it to the Games. If anyone has aspirations to make it into this elite circle of individuals I would suggest you set your sights far into the future...even if you have made it to Regionals or even dominated local comps. Take your game up a level and realize there is a whole set of individuals out classing you as we speak. Use that as fuel to outdo them. The limits of the human body have not been breached so easily. Chase that. Fight for it. Find it. That is all I have to say to you.
So interesting to look back on mat Fraser before he changed everything in 2016. 2016 and beyond, zero chance you'd see Fraser doing this slip n slide because he wouldn't wanna risk injury before the Games. Also funny how the Panchiks were talking about Brooke wells. Fast forward and Saxon and Brooke are now both with PRVN.
Seeing the top-tier of crossfit-practitioners is quite impressive. They don't just look fit, they ARE fit. Unlike this plague that runs through the gyms known as the "aesthetic generation".
Yeah it's bc he has a bent elbow (he said he snatches narrow bc it hurts his wrist if he doesn't) so he rows it into his hip, it's an advanced technique bc of the different timing but just preference
I honestly believe boys, when you train like that you don't say 'I think am gonna win'. I will win. Seriously, when you do 5-6 met cons a day you don't speak like that. Good luck this year at the games.
Seems like "Daddy" was just trying to help out a young Dan Bailey and all he got in return was mocked publicly. I guess that's what happens when you try to be nice.
I really want to reach the same... i continue for this.. can someone give me some good tips for handstand? (Boy 16, train since 2 years and hopefully I will reach into my goal - good crossfit athlete! greetings from germany!
