Before Mego Worlds Greatest Heroes hit toy shelfs with a BANG, POW, BIFF in the early 1970’s another toy line created by Ideal toys tried to grab the growing love of comic book heroes a couple of years before. In 1967 Ideal released the Super Queens toy line but unfortunately the dolls fell short probably because at the time comic books were big with mostly boys and dolls were big with mostly girls. This combination set them up to fail and fail they did. All was not lost the line has become so rare that collectors now look for them and pay big, big money when they find them. Let’s take a long overdue look at the dolls that some believe started it all. It’s the Super Queens and they are awesome vintage toys you should add to you collection!

Gi joe (Ideal) was released in 1964 ...3 years before these dolls. And, Superman wooden articulated doll (Ideal) was released waayyyy back in 1939 and sold for many years. You could buy him for $1.65.

Yes they were but neither was a part of a Superhero line of figures, this was the first superhero line of dolls.

ah guys no no no .. there eyes did not move ... they just were painted with a side glance ... also batgirl with black hair was not sears only, but the blonde hair batgirl was. and ... while kind of the first line, they're also closely connected to Captain action I know it was the 60s... and Captain action was kind of sort of not really a super hero line, but more of a doll that played super hero dress up, but??? yet when dressed up he did become super hero action figure doll and that came out a year before these dolls. fuzzy shade of gray I know

That’s for clarification, we have never seen one in person. We thought about Captain Action but he really wasn’t an official Superhero line just suits. Still strange that a line of females superheroes only was the first “real line”
