@@belle_lia you didn't get my point, why can't the makeup artist be appreciated for how detailed their "stage makeup" skills are, how well they look on stage it's like saying "people realising 3 michellin star food is tasty" when someone appreciates its taste. this is my arguement, similarly you don't say "what's so great about her vocals, she's a singer duh"
@@maanika_m buddy what’s goin on like really wtf are u on about. they were just making fun of netizens for not understanding the concept of stage makeup…
Yeah, that’s just stage makeup, really bright and often blue tinted lights wash people out, you have to do everything darker and more colorful to make it look noticeable at all on a stage. I don’t know if they do this in K-Pop, but in America, play performers will often wear a foundation that’s a little too orange for them so that they don’t look ridiculously pale in the lights
That’s basic makeup knowledge. I do plays and it’s the same situation. We put on very harsh and heavy makeup because on stage the bright lights wash it out so we still want it to show
There is something called stage makeup! A lot of dancers wear it! If anything this isnt a lot of makeup! People really have nothing to talk about do they? She looks gorgeous however she is! 💜💜
this is literally what a stage makeup is, as an stage actress, we use heavy makeup because if we dont, the public cant even see it because of the light and distance
A properly lit set, especially a stage where people move a lot, has bright lights that wash out and hide a lot of colour. Think to a lesser extent why people’s faces look different in some passport photos or why people with darker skin get washed out by some cameras. Makeup under bright direct light is hidden but in more neutral/deliberate lighting (the photo) it’s more visible and even emphasised. So yeah she is wearing a lot of exaggerated makeup for stage but it works for the purpose, even if it looks silly for photos 😂💕
anybody who performs on stage knows how much stage light washes you out, it’s really no surprise that they did her makeup that heavy because that’s how they get it to look good under the harsh lighting
Because idols dance and they tend to sweats a lot, and because of strong lightning, their makeup tends to be heavy especially the blush, highlights and contour compared to actors makeup.
they also do this in theater and other performances on stage! ! it's for the public to see the artist's feature from afar, it may look silly or unusual from up close but it really works!
Stage make ups are made to be thicker than daily makeup because the lighting works differently when on stage performing than your daily sun and bulb lights lol.
I'm a stage actor and they always put a lot of heavy make up on you so you're features are actually visible since there's a bunch of light shining on you... otherwise you'll just look like a ghost
uh.. that's called stage makeup... it's done that way so that the camera picks up their features even when they're far away or moving a lot, it has existed in the entertainment industry since the beginning
That’s why I do my daily makeup differently compared to when I did it for my graduation pictorial. I did my makeup darker(?) ‘cause the lighting in a pictorial can be so harsh compared to natural lighting.
That's true because when I used to do cheer we had to wear makeup, otherwise the judges wouldn't be able to make out any of our facial expressions/features.
That’s how it is performing on stage, the bright lights wash out all your features. That’s why on broadway, in the theater, and during performance shows where the performer is exposed to a lot of light you see heavier makeup.
as someone who used to perform on a stage, yes the actual makeup in person looks incredibly thick. Even idols with good skin cannot ask for less foundation because skin naturally has some uneven colors that are not cohesive when pictured with eyeshadow and lashes etc
Okay it might seem obvious but as someone who does stage makeup a lot I kind of want to explain the logic behind it. Stage makeup is normally a lot heavier , emphasizing certain features that you want to bring attention to. Because on stage the performer tends to be drowned out in the bright lights, the heavier stage makeup counters that and it looks more natural in the end. Also depending on the performance if the audience is far away it gives the eyes stronger features to focus on. Probably an unnecessary explanation but I just wanted to put it here in case anyone was curious!
This is like the first thing you learn if you take any makeup class for like dramatic arts or any kind of stage performance. You go like a couple Shades Darker (unless you're supposed to look washed out) and everything has to be exaggerated. Stage makeup for a performance in a theater can look nearly cartoonish up close because you want the audience to see certain features even from far away, so of course taped performances on a stage like music shows will still be nicely Blended and not overly exaggerated, but the colors and some of the intensity will need to be turned up quite a bit. It is kind of like really funny to think that people are marveling so much over something that's really kind of a basic thing to know if you ever have to go on stage
So if anybody has ever been to a stage performance for people are acting on stage and then you get to meet the actors afterwards you recognize their makeup as exceptionally heavy and harsh. It’s because they anticipate how much the stage lighting is going to blow them out so they put make up accordingly.
Well they're on stage. If you see theatre musicals, you see the makeup were more dramatic and bold so that audience from a distance can see them. You see older theatre like Kabuki have stage makeup as one of the most important part of their acting.
I used to do dance performances and we were required to wear heavy blush, foundations a shade too dark, dark lipstick and dark eyeshadow so offstage I looked ridiculous 😭😭
Yeah, stage lighting washes you out! I grew up learning stage makeup for ballet presentations, when I actually reached the “going out” teenage phase, people constantly commented on how “bold” and over the top my makeup used to look lmao🤣 Luckily now I understand the differences!
It’s a thing called “Stage Makeup” it’s mostly used in theater and dance but you need to apply a lot of stuff in your face to been seen from the stage and not be washed out by the stage lights.
I do dance and stage makeup is usually even thicker than fhis. The first time i hwd gottten stage makeup donemi legit cried cause i thought i looked horrible af 💀💀
i am a dancer and perform on stage a lot. when i do my make up it looks scary and really heavy in person but from the audiance it looks pretty and normal. so yes any idol's stage make-up would be like Karina's.
As a dancer, I have to do my stage make up more extra because the stage lights blur your face out, LITERALLY. Because idols are being recorded, it's normal that their make up artist do that, that way the idol look stunning on the videos, because if not, we would see a bright white blur on their faces
When ppl doesnt understand that for make up to be seem on stage you have to apply A LOT and "overdo" it because the lightning has a huge affect on how it looks🙄
I did stage before. Before going on on stage, all of our makeups looks really heavy to a point that some of us secretly tried to remove it partially because of how "ugly" it looked. We ended up being scolded by our coach becuase this makeup stylist had considered the lighting before doing the makeup. Stage makeups are meant to be heavy becuase when people see you from a distance under the light, it makes your facial expressions more distinct and bright.
Well, that's how it works. MUA will have to put thicker makeup for camera work events. I once had to do like photoshoot or something i forgot, i asked the MUA to lighten my make up. But i got scolded because the reason mentioned above.
It's because the stage lights is so bright to the point you can't see the audience. And also it's not just white light, there are other colors too so the make up need to be more than usual make up.
Theater girlie here! We have to do this often because when your onstage those lights are BRIGHT 😭 I assume it’s even more so for idols because they have even more lights on the when they’re performing. You HAVE to smack that blush in your face otherwise you’ll look lifeless (I’m so serious I look like peppa pig for my blush to show on stage). And sometimes you have to add even MORE to show up on camera. If you look at the BTS of a theater when everyone is in costume, you’ll see just how much makeup we have to wear 😭
This is actually normal for dancers, if you’ve ever seen a dance competition then the dancers look quite normal on stage and look like they only have a bit of makeup on but if you see them off of it then they look like a whole other person who is covered in makeup. As a former dancer myself I can say that the makeup does not look ‘normal’ until you’re on stage.
I was in ballet for nine years as a kid. Did a couple shows. I was always blonde so they had to make my eyebrows darker because it wouldn’t show up right on the stage lights. So to be honest, this is pretty common. It looks tacky off, but it’s perfectly normal on stage.
Always your make up need to be more intense for the cámara bc it don't transferred the same way and when you take a photo is gonna be more visible the diference and it depends with the light as well
Anyone who grew up doing/has done a lot of performance (whether it’s dance, theater, etc) would know that you need to pack on the makeup even more dramatically or your face can look so flat or faded, especially your eyes.
camera and stage lighting make the make up less visible so when going on tv and etc they usually do more bolder and brighter looks for it to still be visible and not fade into nothingness -_-
